I'm leaving shortly to get ammo for my new (to me) 7-08. It has a 9.25:1 twist. Bullet weight recommendations? Im thinking fusion 140gr. 20" barrell if its relevent.

I've been reading about the sst ammo. The only problem is I've call around all the local shops (withing 30 miles) and they do not have any. Most have core-loks or nothing. The only thing else I've found are the fusions. I can drive further, just wanting some input before I made the trip. Are the 120 tsx a little light for caliber. Any deer/hog experiences with them? I will mostly hunt paper with this rifle but do intend to use it in the field if im happy with the load and accuracy combined. As of yet it has never been fired.

B&S is not bad at all. My wife works on beltline close to Tripp which is less than 3 minutes from there. Time to ruin her lunch!

Might also try Gun Zone in Mesquite off of I-30. Its only maybe 3 miles from B&S in Garland.

Academy also carries some of the TSX loads now also. Not sure if they have the 708 or not though.

Wow, just got off the phone for her and she said she would pick it up for me in a little bit. She was happy to hear that it was way cheaper than her .260 ammo.

JCB I'm not familiar with Gun Zone. How big of a place is it? New/used guns. Hopefully not as high as Wiley's. Thats my closest gun shop. Everything in there is MSRP or take a walk.

I have only been in there 3 times but its a decent size place. About the same size as B&S. They sell both new and some used rifles and lots of handguns. Havent really looked too close at their ammo prices but the AR-15 Wrench I bought there the other day was 1/2 the price as what I found online.....and they actually had it in stock unlike the online places I looked. They were also VERY helpfull yesterday when I couldnt get my barrel nut off and they wernt even going to charge me for it.

I'm in the same boat. New 7-08 rifle. New scope just came today. Going to be looking for various ammo, i.e. 120 grain/139 grain/140 grain.

Anybody know of decent amounts in the North Tarrant-Southern Denton county area.

Going to check out Cabelas supply this afternoon.

Yep.....I have known Kim for quite awhile and bought several guns from him when he had Accuracy Arms. Not sure if he still has that shop though.

Since were on it what would be a good scope? I know 6-20,000 would be overkill but im thinking a good 4-12 would be about right for general hunting purpose. Im looking at a Leupold VX11 in 4-12x40 in silver finish. Any recomendations outside of that? My budget is $400, or less would be great but im not in on the Simmons Aetec that came on it.

For a $400 budget I would go witht he Leupold you mentioned. That will give you good magnification range and still keep the gun pretty compact. I would stay away from the 50mm's on a compact gun. 50mm scopes kinda defeat the purpose of having a light compact gun to begin with.

I'm putting a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 on mine. It may be a bit of overkill for some, but I hunt in Kansas and sometimes I need to "look" a long distance.

I just got a scope from SWFA Demos/Rebrubished site(www.samplelist.com)for my 7mm-08. A Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 with the Bullet Drop Compensator for $219.00. I am shocked it looks brand new has a 90 day warranty and was $90.00 less than other places. SWFA rocks, I will never buy a scope anywhere else.

Better check out www.Cameralandny.com. No tax, free shipping and it may not matter on $200 optics, but when buying high end optics I won't buy anywhere else!

Dang, that's a cool scope. Does the compensator really work?
