With all the great sales going on with end of the season camo, was thinking about updating and upgrading. Any advice on what's the best buy out there. Was checking out academy yesterday and really like some of the bone collector series pants and jacket.

And what's your take on the scent blocker stuff? Worth the extra cash for bowhunting or is my money spent better elsewhere?

Appreciate the input

I call BS on sent blocker clothing! I have NEVER used anything more than scent killer spray and a couple of Hunter Specialty scent wafers and NEVER have any problem getting deer to come into bow range. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! back in the day when I used to smoke, i even had a 10pt buck walk within 10 yards of my ground blind while drinking a steaming cup of coffee and smoking a menthol cigarette!!! YES if you have a severe case of body odor then the deer might avoid you but for the most part all that scent killer stuff is BS...

Yeah, never been a big believer in the scent blocker thing. I usually am pretty anal about descenting anyways. But they sure were good looking and felt very comfortable and quiet. Any other suggestions of good camo I might could snag a deal on right now?

Best camo is a personal thing and what your peak price point is.

There are different levels of breathablity, waterproof, water resistance, warmth and stealth.

You can get all the above with gamewinner at academy...but it will no touch top end performance that you find with industry leaders like goretex or omni-dry..found in stika, columbia, riverswest...ext.

Better to say exactly what performance you want and price you will spend.

Yeah, I hunt in west texas 90% of the time. Occasional trip to new mexico or Ohio but seldom. I layer accordingly and never have a problem with cold. So I really dont spend time, or enough time, in extreme weather conditions to justify the high dollar stuff. I spend more time hunting in 80 degree wind then I do 8 degree snow. If its cold, I can always layer accordingly.

So I was just looking for something that breathes good, comfortable to wear all day and quiet enough to bowhunt only really. Never been a big believer in high dollar camo to hunt out of a box, lol

I was looking at some of the bone collector stuff I guess in fleece. Dont want something too heavy though, but I liked the quiet sound of the fleece.

If you hunt in a box (bow blind) I would suggest black long sleeve T shirt, shorts and snake boots. up

As far as still hunting or hunting out of a tripod in West Texas I would go with any of the below patterns whichever I can find cheapest:

Mossy Oak Brush
Max 1 HD
Brush Country Camo
Gameguard

I was at Academy yesterday, 30% off most hunting gear. I got a gamewinner camo fleece jacket that's windproof, regular price around $50...I paid $35. Also picked up 2 magellan camo hunting shirts at $9 a piece.

Im 6'4 275lbs, I could swing 3X. It would be a little baggy but I can deal with it.
