Thinking of improving my 7-08 and was wondering if any of you had done it? If so, what was the velocity difference.

Seen listings for it on smiths' websights, but never actually seen one in person. I can't see velocity being a huge pay-off. You could probably do better with a 280.

I would jump to 280 rather than ai the 7/08, just me but fire forming brass would be pita.

fireforming is as simple as shooting 7mm08 factory ammo or reg reloads through it. Same as any other standard caliber Ackly improved. But I would still go with the 280AI myself over the 7mm08, more velocity and can get ammo
Now on the other hand if you have a 6mm06AI like I do it can be a little more work but still not bad.

7mm-08 Water capacity max 55 grains 7mm-08AI Water capacity max 58.3 grains
3.3 grains case capacity is not going to give you much velociy improvement, cases should last longer
6% increase in case volume increase going to AI

Forgot to include that shouls result in about a 2.4% velocity increase ofrom 3000fps to 3072fps for a 120gr bullet, if the math in my head is correct

Having one built right now gunsmith's load for the round pushes a 120@ 3400fps and 3100fps with 140's.

Out of curiousity, how much does it cost to have a rifle converted to A.I.?
