I'm looking at getting one of these in 308 for long range shooting and hog hunting. Thoughts?

Why SPS Tactical over the Savage 10 Precision Carbine?

I would say the savage, I dont like the hogue stock on the remmy it is flimsy on the end. But I would be looking at the 10 FCP McMillan with a 24" barrel for longe range and plus you got a better stock than tyhe hogue and the accustock

I prefer Savage. We'll beat Bud's on either.

SPS Tactical AFAIK comes w/ a H&S stock not a Houge.

If you want one w/ a nice stock they do make the Remington Target Tactical

Sorry, I guess that is no help to the OPs question.

Both Remington and Savage offer models with different stocks. I like the Remington 700 SPS Tactical. But, the stock isn't very good. I know you can change the stock on the SPS Tactical. But, then you are into it for more than the Savage costs. I also like the Remington 700 LTR. But, it is more money than the Savage 10 Precision Carbine. The cost savings will go towards better optics.

Another vote for the 700 LTR.

Go with the Savage, you won't regret it! Plus you know you'll have quality out of the box.

Why would you give advice?

What? Are you asking what my experience is with Savage? What's your question?

Seems the Savage 10 Precision Carbine is a bit hard to find at a good price. Same for the Rem 700 SPS Tactical. Will keep looking.
