cause deer to move out of the area (about 200 acres). this pumpjack has been operational for years but the drilling company made an adjustment about a year ago and the pumpjack backfires about every 5 minutes and sounds just like a gun shot. we lease 3 sections, but this area has really been our honey hole for the last five years and while the rest of the lease was fine, this area was devoid of mature deer this year(including on cameras in the area). i know deer are very adaptable, but just looking for answers at the end of a very frustrating season. thanks for your responses...

have the landowner call the production co. they can make the repairs to stop that. I honestly dont think it would bother them after a long period of time.

Yeah....I'd see if that can be fixed. The deer already aound might get used to it but it might keep any new ones from moving into the area.

It won't bother them at all, I've got several Ajax motors and the deer come right up to the well heads and rub in the oil, javi's do too. I can tell you how to fix that!
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

we have an pecan orchard about 35 ft from a feeder. when we have the crow gun-a propane cannon- going off every 3 minutes the deer seem to ignore it.

They get used to it. Was on a place that had several that back fired, the deer on that place wouldn't spook too bad after a shot bc of the back firing.

There's one on my lease that backfires all the time and they don't even look up but I bite down on a cracker and they stare at me!!!

It might bother them for a while but before long, every deer on the lease will have been around it since the day they were born. As long as the pumpjacks don't start shooting them, ripping out their innards, and hanging them from trees I doubt they'll be bothered too much.
