i didn't even know they had that... with my luck, i'd spend the 1000$ to get one, then i'd relocate to another state...

Congratulations. I bought one about fifteen years ago for $500. Not a bad investment. It sure is fun having one when everybody is moaning about a license price increase.

The good thing about that is even if you relocate to another state the license is still valid whenever you come back to Texas to hunt. You wouldn't have to buy a non-resident license.

Even if you get that won't you still have to buy some things annually anyway like a duck stamp?
Dear Lord please bullwhip me for saying this but I agree, Marcstar is in the lead. Please nobody use this as a quote!!!

It was $1000 for the super combo. This gives you a lifetime license super combo including all the "normal" stamps for Texas. You will still have to buy a Federal duck stamp, alligator tag, and trappers tag.

I think you also still have to buy the APH if you plan on hunting public land.
It's not skybusting, if you make the shot.

I'm going to get mine this year. I'm 27 and don't plan to stop hunting or fishing anytime soon, so I figure it will be an investment. Money well spent.

I think I may do that this year. Also, If you fish at all in Oklahoma or think you will in future years, the Oklahoma Non Res Lifetime fishing license is a steal at $275. Especially if you consider Texas charges residents $600 for the same comparable Texas license.

I am mailing in my form now. I am only doing the hunting since I can add the fishing later if I need to but I don't hit publics lakes much anymore. If they go way up on fishing I will add it when it is still $400 more.

I thought about getting a combo, but that $1000 will do better if left invested. That is as good as a lifetime license and then some

With at least a 7% return after taxes, expenses and fees, then yes you will be ahead if invested. If about 5% then after 24 years you won't have anything left. That is not taking into about any price increases. Add price increases you will need much more than 7% return after taxes, fees, etc. You can say historical market return is 12% long term or whatever but it is unknown. So are how much future increases will be.

I’ll take the balance and compounding interest any day of the week! Say it goes from $64 to $100 in ten years; you still have more than the $1000 you started with assuming an average of 10% net per yr.

Yep, about $2,400 in 25 years at 10%. That means the Dow will be around 128,000. I can retire but what will land be per acre? I don't get 10% raises a year. Too much to think about.

One of the reasons behind the life time license is that the state invests the $1000 and use the interest to buy land for us to hunt on.
