With the post season lull I hunt sheds from March till May. I look around feeders, food plots, roads, fences, water, trails etc. I concentrate my looking from the downwind side on food and water. Usually you can find a large communal scrape around 75 or 100 yds downwind from a food source. For me spots that produce in the past will produce some sheds for years to come. It is as much fun as trail cameras to me. Especially when you find sheds off of bucks you know you did not see in pics or during the daylight. Also allows you to see just how big a buck really was.

If you get both sheds from a deer could you find out the score for him, from just them?

Good question. I think the inside width would be the missing measurment.

It's exciting when you find a shed from the one that got away. Gives you more hope for the next season.
Also, I collect antlers for making things such as drawer pulls, lamps, etc. If any one has any they don't want just let me know. Thanks.

If you get bot sheds from a deer could you find out the score for him, from just them? Yes you can and you can hold them up and see if they look about right and then have someone measure the width for a rough score.

I must have walked 5 or 6 miles at my lease in Throckmorton Co. last April, and found none, then driving out of the pasture to leave I jumped a buck with both sides still attached, so guess the deers stress level is fairly low in my area. Also, my in-laws live in Pecan Plantation in Granbury, that place is full of deer, and it is not uncommon to see bucks with hard horns in May and even June. Those deer aren't stressed either.
