Maybe some of you guys can help me out. I have read and done alot research on this caliber, from the stand point of "The best Deer/Varmit gun for Texas,a very good overall caliber, suffincent for 75-80% of game animals in US with the rest being oversized and thick skin animals, great long range and flat shooter" to "why get 25-06 when a .308 is so much better". After all that I decided on a 25-06, now I just can't find what I want, I have looked for a Savage 10FP or a 700PSS or SPS or something close to that type of gun. I want a 24" or 26" heavy bull type barrel, I will put a tactical stock on it and a Millet scope, decided against Ruger, been there done that and TC (no single shots), So the question is why is this so hard to find, am I barking up the wrong tree or what, I'm begining to think they don't make such a thing or do they

Barking up the wrong tree as far as caliber for the gun you want..
25/06 is one of the finest rounds there is, but it was designed and promoted as a hunting cartridge, and was never really pushed as a target cartridge.
I could very well be wrong, but I can't think of any commercial rifle currently chambered in 25/06 with a heavy bull barrel, all are with standard sporter weight barrels.

Ahhh, I forgot about that one! Is it still chambered in 25/06? I know it was at one time, you might be able to find a good used one if not. Bill

I did the same thing you are doing. New 25-06's are hard to find simply because there are not very many options out there. Remmy makes it in the CDL, XCR and the SPS Stainless. Browning also make it in the A Bolt. They are all tough to find though. I just bought an SPS Stainless in 7mm and it is an absolute tack driver. So that is the one that I would recommend. The SPS is not a bull barrel though. I don't know of any factory bull barrels.
The main problem with the 25-06 is the factory rate of twist in the barrel. Factory barrels will in most cases prefer smaller bullets 80-90 grains than 110-120. If you reload this is not a problem and you and load the larger rounds and push them faster.

Thanks Rifleman, but don't they come in Stainless only? Not really what I had in mind but you never know, also I thought VLS came in 25-06, but guess not

Have one built!! or find a semi custom like hill country rifles
My 25-06 loves 100 grain tsx's
After shooting the 80grain ttsx's in my 257...going to have a load worked up for my 25-06.
Got a complete double shoulder passtru on a 232lb hog this week... that's a hell of a pill at 3800ft/s.
Figured I should be able to get 3600+ plus out of my 26in barrel 25-06

think they're mostly made in SF now b/c that's what's been selling. I'll see what else I can come across. Best option may be to buy the action and and put the barrel and stock of your choice on it....usually ends up being cheaper than going to the remmy custom shop

Not bull barrel but check out the Tikka. I have a 25-06 Tikka and it's a shooter. It shoots under an inch with 100 grain core-lokts and 120 grain Accubonds. It hates the 110 grain Federals, though.

I think this is what your looking for http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=208854690I have a buddy thats got one of these and I would agree that it is one fine rifle, I have a stainless sendero in 300wby and its a great gun. if you buy a black sendero like this I dont think you need to replace the stock, however I would have it glass bedded. the burris scope on that rifle is good, I used to have a burris fullfield II 4-12x44 on my sendero and upgraded to a leupold vari-x III 4-14x40 and its my go to long range rig
