1. I have a friend who is looking for a handler with birds in the Gatesville area or there abouts that could help him setup a hunt or two for clients. Any suggestions?
2. I have some land in Coleman County and saw a handful of quail this Spring. I know I have a ton of varmints and they 99% are dead if I drop them on the ground but I just really want to give it a shot. Anybody have a good site for me to start researching or someone with experience to work with?

Wipe out the varmints before you release birds. Most released birds will die now although some birds we released last year are still actually running arround in Schleicher county.
If your just doing this to please your clients then release some birds do the hunt shortly after and no big worries about predators.

I dont know how much money you want to throw at it (or if they have dropped their prices), but the Quail Restoration Surrogator deal seems to work to at least get you a monster covey to hunt down through the season. A guy in Graham tried it and said he had a wild flying 75 bird covey that he slowly worked down through the season. His strategy was to order one, then have the local machine shop guy make the rest of them at about 750 a piece

You don't have as many varmints as you did at the first of the year Rusty. You know anybody thats got dogs i got a ton of land and some good looking quail populations this year, lets get a hunt after the 16th of January.

I do a few hunts where I get the birds and provide the dogs. I have 6 english pointers, 1 viszla and an english cocker spaniel. I typically do 8 hunts a year for a friend out of Tyler. PM for more details.
