On a $1000 budget I would like to get a .270 with a scope. I'm very partial to Remington 700's but am open to other guns, too. I have a 700ADL 7Mag bought in 1972 and it's still a great, straight shooting gun.

I've done some searching and think the 700BDL is my logical choice. Maybe the CDL but not sure of the difference.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

Basically the same gun bdl and cdl other than the wood.
I like the look of the CDL better.
You could go sps or adl if you dont want wood.

Steyr Model M Professional with double sets. I just happen to have a spare.

Get a stainless Remington 700 SPS and spend the remainder of the money on a good scope. Hard to beat.

Buy a Remington 700 adl at academy for 350, buy bdl bottom metal 50 to 80, order a Alaskan Ti stock from stockystocks.com on sale for $213 and have it bedded pu scope for 300 and add rings 50 and you have helluva set up for 1000

my last rifle I spent $1000 on was a Tikka T3 stainless in 6.5 x 55 (about $650), put a Weaver Grand Slam 4x10x50 total was about that. hard to beat that combo.

JCB I agree with you, I got some really nice rifles but my Stevens 200 in 7mm-08 shoots dime groups, I want to find a wood stock to replace the ugly synthetic but havent so far, the issue is whether or not the magazine well stays in the stock when you take barrel off, may just put a coat of cammo paint on it. other than that I love mine.

I'm not. I got some Rugers, Weatherbys,Sakos etc. and the 200 like I said shoots dime groups with a 3x9x50 Nikon Buckmasters on it, maybe yall ought to really shoot one and find out. when I see pigs out past 300 yards, the Stevens comes out of my pickup.

Thanks to all for the input - I wasn't familiar with the Tikka but checked it out and it looks nice. Going to get to Bass Pro after Christmas to see one in person then decide.

Thanks!

BassPro had some good deals on Sako's when I was in there the other day. Have you even looked at a Win. 70?

How do you go about getting that bolt like that? That looks pretty sharp.
