given under $1000 what would you buy?
criteria: .308 bull barrel 26" or longer synthetic stock
CZ has one that meets all of these but not familiar with their rifles

See above post, then see it again. My best friend has one, it is silly accurate. He put a Jewell trigger in it and shoots a 10 inch gong at 700 yards at my place with very little effort.

If you want to spend the whole 1k on the rifle then Id go with the 5r. If you want a little money left over PSS.

My investment cost in a Remmy 700 Varmit ADL bull barrel in .308
Gun was $449.00 after rebate BC Medalist stock for $200.00 Bottom Metal (converted to BDL) for $60.00 EGW 20 MOA base $15.00 Burris XTR rings and Millet 4x16x50 TRS1 for $260.00 Less Factory Stock: Sold for $40.00 Less Scope that came with the rifle: Sold for $40.00
Total net cost is $904.00
I'm into my rifle and optics for $900.00. I plan on adding an aftermarket trigger after the first of the year for another $250.00, so my total will be $1150.00 for gun and optics.
Maybe I could have done better with some of the prices had I been a bit more patient, but I feel for the money the gun performs exceptional.
This gun is capable of .5 MOA or better today (When I do my job)and I'm certain the gropus will improve with a better trigger.

I really like my gun, but if I had it to do over I'd save a little longer and buy the Remington 5R.

Now for glass....hmmm.... My choices would be Nightforce, then Schmidt and Bender, then US Optics (from least to best of course) On the "lower" end I liked my Lupy Mark 4 on my 5r.
