Decoys and stay well hidden. Use a good crow call and learn the calls to bring them in. Lay some strips of tin-foil on the ground nearby. They are very curious, but very intelligent, and have very good eyesight!

Here is a good link for crow sounds:

Crowbusters is an excellent site.

I use black trash bags creased and tied to tree limbs as decoys use several of them. Place an owl decoy( found in the garden section at Walmart) below the bags and play crow owl fight.

I also use an old Johnny Stewart closed reed crow call and add to the sound effects.

Kill the first one or two crows that show up, they are scouts. Pick the rest off as the oppurtunity arises. If they start to leave switch to crow in destress and you may get another shot.

I keep my 22-250 close by for when they get in the tree tops outside of shotgun range.

Good luck.

When I was a Kid we would find some cardboard box's big enough to hide in and go to the city dump and shoot crow's. I've seen it raining crow's a few time's. Damn that would be fun to do again!

Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

That deal started with some crapola aggrement with mexico back in 60s about some bird they had, About same time rest of laws changed on owls an hawks, few eagles, Before that you could go to okla. at winter roost an kill as many as you could manage using live cat or stuffed owl, an black socks on coat hangers shaped to crow size, shotguns an rifles, an calls an case of shells.Wing a few an tie em up kept rest coming in, Others pass shot them comin off roost on flight lines. Bad weekend would be less than 400 for 3-4 shooters, Bad part is they were suppose to take 20 million eggs/ducks a year and added them to migratory list,

Well then you shouldn't do that, but don't complain if I do, because where I hunt its safe.

I'm not your friend. I know a little better than to shoot in the direction of a road.

Sirrah,
He is giving you some good advice that may save you and someone else from grief some day.

A 22-250 is not listed, but as an example a 243 bullet can travel 2.5 to 3.5 miles.
http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/learning/hunter_education/homestudy/firearms/bullets.phtml

Nothing wrong with shooting a Crow with a centerfire rifle but to clearly identify your target and what lies in front of it and beyond it before you shoot is a basic hunter's safety responsibility.

I use my spitfire and play crow fight. Brings em in everytime. Hide well and when they come in blast em with a shotgun. After you shoot move at least 500 yards and do it again. Lots of fun!!!

Ok, it started out sounding unsafe, then his friend shot a car on the highway and now you're telling me about basic hunter safety responsibility. AS if I had not ever thought of any of this before. Thanks for your concern.

If you're lucky enough to shoot and injure one, you're set for the rest of the day. Tie a rope to the injured crow and stake it to ground. Let the thing caw and flop around for a bit and you'll have the opportunity to shoot more.
