This happened to our group this past weekend and it was terrible. Day 1 shot 34 birds (with 11 people not including guides), Day 2 shot 7 (with 10 people) on a hole big enough for 3 people. Basically we got hosed.

Who was the guide? Please tell, to prevent any of us from getting burned!

I have been on some very successful hunts with a group of 10 or more around Haskell. is it the group size or number of birds?

11 hunters in one group is just begging for an accident to happen.....that's ridiculous.

I was on the hunt with blazer and the part that we were upset about is the fact that we only shot 34 birds between 11 people and the guide was acting like we just kicked [censored]. The second day was much worse than what blazer is saying, we were literally hunting a strip of water that was 100 yards long, North to South, and 5 feet wide , East to West, with a fence/property line on the on the North side of the water. On the other side of the fence was a 60+ acre tank that had about 150 ducks on it. We were set up right next to the fence in some "pit blinds" that were sunken in 2x4s with plywood on the front and rotted out plywood floors that were not brushed in adequately what so ever. All the ducks we shot were sky busters and the result of 10 guns shooting. When ever we got back to the lodge are were talking to some of the other guides they were all very suprised and said, "Well before the split that place had tons of water and birds." Meaning that those crooks hadn't scouted.

I was on the hunt, too. I guess we know why he was trashing THF Friday night - someone else has already drug his name through the mud on here. Guess they were right. Blazer, your call on naming names. Not sure what your intention was in starting this forum. It's obvious we got screwed.

I posted something similar to this a few months back and I was "in between" about naming names but after thinking it over I did share. We are on THF to share info and help each other. You should let others know so they don't get hosed too..IMO

I don't know the whole story here but I can tell you 11 guided hunters in a blind is way too many. Especially being a mixed group.

On another note if 11 hunters and 2 guides shot 37 birds with that many moving parts in one spot...you did pretty good.

Blazer, sorry you had a bad experience. I have to ask, did you/your group fail to ask questions to validate what the expectations should be? In other words did yall assume somethings that did not end up happening? Or did the outfitter fail to deliver on promises he made? If that was the case then I think you should name names by all means. As an outfitter who works his butt off to meet clients expectations when they purchase a hunt, I dont want to compete against those that dont and are just bald faced liars. If they did yall wrong you need to call them out on this board so others dont get scammed the why yall did if that was the case. Again, sorry you had a crappy experience.

Sorry about the lack of reponse. I have been traveling. As disgusted as I was with this hunt, I pray it was a one time issue with this guide. I don't want to run someones name through the mud but at the same time I would like to know these things before I booked another hunt. We do very well hunting on our own and like to have gathering of friends with a no worry hunt once a year. This was far from it and will gladly help my fellow hunter out with the outfitter info, but will only do it if u PM me.

And this is not a bashing session this is just me being a lifetime hunter, venting on something I felt was wrong. The guide had some bad a*** spots just not for 11 people

It is not the first time that guide has been bashed on here. He has quite a negative following from THF.

This has been an informative thread.

I didn't know people actually paid money to shoot flying liver.

Seriously? ANOTHER screw job given by this unnamed guide service? I sincerely hope he/they is/are banned permanently from pimping his/their service on this site. This is getting ridiculous.

Also, why the hesitancy to post the name? If you had a problem with a vehicle, service at a restaurant, etc, it would be perfectly acceptable to air it out in public. That's the way it works for businesses and it keeps them honest in the customer service department. Yet, for some reason, nobody wants to do it (or is allowed to) when it comes to a duck guide. I don't get it.

And another thing. I hope the threads aren't deleted. When someone googles the offending service, the bad reviews should pop up right along with their website.

I agree with Hondo. I can't understand why everyone's so hesitant to name the outfitter. I figure that two good things would come from it. First, it would warn the others of us who might be planning to hunt with the guide. Second, it would give the guide a chance to defend himself in the court of public opinion.
I guess the only downside would be that you might get sued for defamation, and in today's litigious society nothing would surprise me.
