Any tips/tactics for hunting the southside of a piece of water with a north wind?

The place I hunt has a slough at the north end. Im only allowed to access and hunt it from the south. With the front coming this weekend am just wondering how to setup my spread/blind.

I normally just toss some dekes to the left, some to the right, and leave a hole in the middle.

Dont sound too good,but you can always pass shootem.

The only tip or tactic i know in that scenario,is too try and get into some slack water somehow and just giver hell.they dont like sitting in rough water,

Put the deeks further out so they can j hook back into the deeks and still be over the water. They don't like to go over land to hit water, typically. If they really want to get in there they will find a way and that would put you at their backside.

I agree. On our place I like to hunt the south side no matter the wind direction. Even when we get a wild hair and hunt the north side on a north wind there are still lots of birds going to the south side. And I've been seeing alot of ducks riding the rough stuff. Heck this morning we had 4 birds land and hang out smack dab in the middle of the pond.

The wind is usually at an angle to the bank. I like to set my dekes on the up wind side of the bank to give the birds the down wind side to land on.

usually I try not to hunt the south side in a N wind but if I had to I'd make sure I had a MOJO pointed into the wind about 20 yards out if possible. In my experience the ducks will try to "follow the leader" and 20 yds gives them some room to maneuver. they won't normally set up over land to finish in the water.
