I've been searching the web all day for new boots for next year. Turkey and Deer. What I'm looking for is something 17-18" high that is lace-up AND side zip snake boots. Preferably in Mossy Oak. I've gotta have side zip lace-ups for the perfect fit. (my leg is shaped like a ham) Regular pull-ons or side zips don't fit my calf. Yall got any suggestions? Any links?

Google Russell Moccasin Company and have some made. They are a little higher than an off the shelf boot but will fit perfect and they will add zippers and what ever else you want. I get all of my boots from them due to weird shoe size and they are the only way to go.

Go the the DSC convention in a couple of weeks, they well be there and take your measurements on the spot.

Danner X3 nothing fits more comfortably and you can wear them all day long the first day you put them on.

Russells for me. I have been wearing South 40 bird shooters for 4 years. They fit like a glove, and wear like iron. They fit me because they are made for me. Nothing else I've found compares. If you want lace up and zippers, they can do it if anyone can.
I plan on ordering Prickly pear bird shooters for next year. They are snake boots that are made like my South 40's

Lace-up with side zip tend to come unlaced when they are off because the laces loosen up and come off the eyelet hooks. Kinda defeats the purpose of having the side zip. Look for a pair with eyelets and not hooks if it has a zipper. I haven't found one yet.
I'm in the same boat, large calves, and finally found a pull-on, zip up Irish Setter that would fit.
Good Luck.
Good Hunting, Gary

A pair of justin ropers ;D
I wanted to invent an engine that could run for ever. I could have developed a new train, had I stayed in the railway. It would have looked like the AK-47 though.

Blew out my Chippewa moccasin style snakeboots again, took it to the same little shoe shop that fixed up the other boot when it came unstitched last year. He laughed and said," I don't think so, these things are done." So I broke down and went shopping for snakeboots first thing this morning. I gotta tell ya, these Danner Pronghorn GTX snakeboots feel pretty durned good for being brand new after wearing them around the rest of the morning. I have a wide foot and a low arch, and have to take the innersoles out of most boots and shoes so they don't kill my feet. I guess that comes from being too fat too long. My feet are splayed out. But these things are gonna work fine. Check 'em out if you need snakeboots. I am sure the regular pronghorn GTX's are even more comfortable.

There are way to many good brands, what will make the most difference in comfortability is the way they fit your feet, i recommend trying on multiple brands and make sure you havent been walking all day or else they will all feel like pillows, but ive had good luck with danner, rocky and irish setters
