I was at Cabela's today and saw a 7mm-08 that was tagged as a Remington 700 Classic but the barrel didn't say "Classic" on it. Could that be right?

I'll have to look, but I don't think my 250 Sav in Rem 700 says "Classic".

I don't believe they are marked classic.

If it is really a 700 Classic then it wont say Classic on the barrel. The Classic is chambered in one caliber each year and I think the 7mm-08 was made in 2000 or 2001.
My guess is you found this gun on the used gun rack??

I just looked it up and the 7mm-08 was in fact made in 2001.

Unlike the Classics, I think all the CDL models have the ebony forend stock.

He didn't say so I figured but JCB found it when I looked the list I found stopped at 95, but if they made it in 2001 I am sure it is tagged right,

Remington has also made some limited runs of guns for various distributers with Classic on the box. Had one in 257 Roberts that was a "stainless classic". The barreled action was standard BDL stainless but was in the classic style stock.
