In all honesty, I don't have a bag. If I needed one, I'd go home, take 5 minutes to gather up all my crap, and hit the road. I've got plenty of bullets, canned foods, dried beans at the house that I use for cooking to last me a long time. I always have water in my vehicle as it is.

Just ammo and guns... with those two things I can just take whatever else I need from people who don't believe in guns.

So in a time of adversity you're going to become a thief?

You can't spend five minutes and five dollars a week to prepare yourself for a time when McDonalds isn't open?

You should work on a plan. Look at Katrina, FEMA isn't going to help you. Do you want to live in a dome with thousands of people under the rules of others.

To have the basics to survive for you and your family is a minimal effort. If I didn't have a place to go I would look at it as a long camping trip and prepare for that. If I have a place to go I would be stockpiling for pretty much any disaster that would be in my area.

Now I need to go I got some 72 square feet of tin foil I need to make pirate hats out of..

I'm like Helo and Sig, I just need to get home.

If I was in an urban area like NOLA during Katrina I would have a bug out bag and get as far away as I could. Say family or friends in a different state.

Everything in your home is replaceable, you and your family aren't.

If you want to bunker down and ride out the disaster that's fine also but do you want to go to the local Walmart with the other unprepared people or do you want to grab some soup and beans out of your well stocked pantry?

I also have a bigger cargo carrier with the food and cooking stuff. I just don't have it ready to go without a short load up first.

As far as what for? When the day comes when I need to bug out, whether it's because our government lays down our sovereignty to the UN or a natural or man made disaster I just need to know that I have what I need to defend myself and survive until I get to my place. There I should be able to fend for quite a while. But it will be quite a trip if I have to hoof it.

I work hard, drink a little and hunt when I can.

As long as birds fly and fish swim I shouldn't go hungry. Usually keep a supply of ramen noodles on hand. Cheap, shelf life is good, taste like crap but they are filling.

Never had an MRE in my life, but CTD is running a sale next Tuesday. 12 MRE's for $49.95. I may just buy a case.

BTW Anyone know what the shelf life for beer is?
