I have had bass fisherman run thru my spread on one occassion. Have had some really rudes ones fish 50-100 yards away from me. Basically my thoughts are that if I can see them clearly then they are way to close. Seems like the guys on the TFF have it figured out. Wish they were all that smart.

Yall ahve to remember that bass fisherman arent exactly looking out for duck hunters....

When im fishin, once ive slowed down, i dont really look past 50yrds or so. Most of my time is looking at electronics or for patches of grass or some submerjed structure.

If there are decoys 75-100yrds away, ill probably barely glance at em and mark em off as real ducks....

So most of the time, it is not the fisherman thinking to himself "how close can i get to thos hunters", but "ohh crap loook, those are hunters, i should leave."

And then u get on the THF and read how some dumb bass fisherman ran his trolling motor really close to the hunters spread and then decided he would haul butt out of there....... its not usually to be a peckerhead, but because they didnt knwo u were there.

I think most of the time they don't know we're there. I've only had one run in where the guy wouldn't back off. Not more than 30 yards from our dekes he dropped his trolling motor and stopped.

So I yelled (not cussin, just so he'd see us) and waived my arms, the whole bit. He looked over and tried to ignore us while he rigged up his lines.

After 10 minutes or so I fired a shot - not at him, just so there would be no mistake that he knew we were there. So he pulls up his trolling motor... and goes <100 yards into the middle cove and stops... (that's fightin' mad)

I fish a lot, too, but I usually don't fish where duck hunters would want to be anyway so I've never had a problem.

I'd hate to have to shoot a huntin' buddy.

Spelling is not my strong suit and it doesn't improve with little sleep.

I've read about this a lot and it concerns me with some of the things I've read.

If this ever happened to me I would give a verbal alert that I was there, If the guy went as far as to cast in my spread as I've read about I would simply get up and walk out into the spread and start kicking up mud.

I would not make any threats, but splashing around in the silt would make it unlikely for him to catch any fish there that day and unless he was intent on harassing me he would move on.

Find a secluded spot back in the thick stuff and your problem is solved. The only fisherman I see are trotliners during teal season.

lol....ya, im sure that would scare all the fish off.......watched a guy catch a bass off the back of my boat trailer the other day..... bass arent quite as skittish as people might think...

Bass fisherman can be a rude bunch. You know they own the lake or think they do. If there is a tournament going on than John Q public had best just stay away.

yep...but i can say that ive met a lot more rude bass fisherman than i have rude duck hunters... but of course, i dont know too many duck hunters...

Really, the only rude duck hunter i met was cable, and he cant help it that hes a DB.


That being said, there are plenty of bass fisherman that arent rude, and dont get "caught up in the game" and can stilll get some enjoyment out of fishing.
