I just bought a Remington 700 VSF in .308 . I plan to use this rifle for some paper punching out to about 500 yards and also some hunting (deer, hog, coyote, exotic). Obviously I want to add a scope and wondered what you guys might recommend. I am thinking about possibly getting a super sniper 10x. I would like to stay in the $300 - $400 range. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you might have.

Vortex in that price range would probably be a good fit

I have never owned one I have just read a ton of good reviews of them and figured they might be worth a try.

Super snipers are solid scopes, good quality. I would get the variable one though, the fixed would suck for hunting in my opinion. At 50 yards all you will see is fur at 10 power. I like the ability to turn it down.

Super Snipers suck. why spend all that money on a nice rifle and put a $300 scope on it? why not just wait a little longer and save some money and get a scope that will help you shoot out to 500 yds?

i bought a burris FFII to put on my 7mm mag. all other scopes i've used are leupold vxiii's. I'm happy with the results. I know everyone has their "go to" thing, just like ford or chevy, but i wanted to stay in a good price range and still have clean glass. I would buy the burris again over and over. This year it has already taken a white tail at 350 with no problem. mine is a 4.5x14x42, but they also make a 20 power if you think you need more.

You should give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars your from Texas.

call doug at cameraland and ask about the minox open box. they have a 3-15x42 for less than $400. hard to beat that deal.

i am close to calling myself and getting the 4-20 open box they have.

I've never heard anybody say that Super Snipers "suck" before now. They've been awarded U.S military contracts and have gotten really good reviews on the sniper websites. I'm not saying they compare to a $2k Schmidt and Bender but for around $300 I think they are a pretty good option.

You have never heard anyone say they suck because most people won't tell you that what they have sucks until the get rid of it.

I'm here to tell you that i have owned one (for about 3 days) and a buddy has one still. they suck. There is a reason that it cost $300.00....because tasco makes it.

Go to a long range shooting competition and see how many Super Snipers you see on the firing line. They weren't awarded U.S. military "contractS" they were awarded ONE navy contract that lasted for a very short time....then SWFA bought the rights to the scope. I have quite a few friends in the military and none of them have ever seen a tasco super sniper.

Tasco made some good scopes, but often are only known for their budget priced stuff....

In the price range, hard to beat Burris...

Everything except Tasco still making them is the real story right here...

They are not something I would slap on a high dollar rifle but they are a decent tactiacl scope for the money no matter who tells you they suck.
