Smith for sure; I actually prefer the K frame 19 or 66...
Actually the 2.5 inch 66 would be the best for me I agree but I'll stay away from the 2 1/2. Yeah but you are trying to shoot too far, I am always looking for shorter and lighter!

I've got (conservatively) 10,000 rounds through several Single Sixes, Blackhawks & Super Blackhawks, and have never had one fail to go bang when I pulled the trigger. And my experience is more the rule than the exception. There are few things as reliable nowadays as a well-made gun, and Rugers are if anything over-engineered. That's why they're so popular for big bore customs.
Gotta admit though, my old S&W 19 was a sweet shooter, smooth as silk.

Manurhin MR73 S&W Model 19 and 66 Colt Python and Diamondback Korth Combat
Take your pick...
Just my opinion. I acquired a marvelous Diamondback recently... and a beautiful 19; Both are gems... I've had Pythons, but always end up back with 19's or 66's...

Been told by several smiths that frequent heavy mag loads can throw off timing on Pythons, I've never seen it happen but always wonder. The Pythons have to be one of the smoothest out there.

I'll have to agree that it's the S&W 686 since it was the first handgun I ever owned. I bought it new to attend the police academy and paid under $300 for it. I carried it for nearly a year then went to the semi-auto conversion course. My wheelgun was then relegated to a backup capacity in the glovebox. I actually took a deer with it once. Wish I still had it but traded it for Colt 1911.

I had a Ruger Single Six that was my favorite til some ba@#ard stole it. Had a Blackhawk .357 for years and recently got another.. My hands are too big for the stock grips, but bigger grips and I really enjoy shooting it.

I've owned a lot of wheelguns and when it is all said and done, None can hold a candle to the Dan Wesson 15-2VH. WHAT!!!!!! That's right. I know that most people like the Big Name Brands and what most people pick them to buy because of what some one else said. There 2 kinds of experience, Yours and Some one Else's. 1st: Most accurate off the shelf Revolver made.(Fact not Hype) 2nd: More versatility; Interchangeable barrels, sights and grips all included in the Pistol Pac. 3rd: Price; All the above plus the tools you need to change the above components @ a price well below the cost of bigger names. 4th: Faster reloads; One of the only revolvers you can, Open, Swing, Eject casings and then close once reloaded with ONE HAND- The left hand!!! 5th: The adjustable barrels means less lead fowling and that means a lot when you're shooting non-jacketed ammo. Old timers know about this. Ask them. The removable barrel means more thorough cleaning and inspection. 6th: Safety; No need to worry about carrying this one with a round under the hammer. It wouldn't misfire if you used it as a hammer much less dropped it. There are a lot of other outstanding things about this revolver, but you have to own one to know. Now I know there,s a bunch of guys that will tell you that "The barrels come loose" or "Gun gets loose while shooting!", But I most problems encountered with the gun could be contributed to the Nut loose behind the cylinder.(Operator) That's why they came instructions. Of course some people are Educated beyond there ability to Understand. Just my opinion though. Thanks Highawk
