Thank you sir. I believe this one's a '58 model according to Colt.

Thank you. I wish it could talk.....or maybe it's better that it can't.

Love that Python. I also like my DW M15 VH. Its my favorite along with the M40 DW .357 Max. Both from the Monson era.

I'll vote for the S&W .500 since nobody's submitted it yet.

Any Smith and Wesson revolver!!! If price is no object, then I think Freedom Arms premier grade is the best. plus the colt

You bet. I have a 30-30 version. I don't have the balls to pull the trigger on the .450 http://www.magnumresearch.com/bfr_fact.aspI'm also a fan of Colt & USFA

I am torn between the Mod 19 S&W (smooth and light), and the Ruger Blackhawk (rugged, reliable, great value).

I like the Smith & Wesson model 57 Another fine pistol just but the N-frame is too large for me.
Yes! A Weatherby does kill them deader.

With so many excellent choices, I think it really comes down to the style you like. I'm partial to the classic SAA "cowboy" look.

The answer depends on what the OP meant by "best". If he meant best value for the dollar, Ruger would probably win. The M19 Smith is handy and sweet, But if "best" means highest quality, then, IMO the Python is in a league by itself.

I meant to open a can of worms...
There is no way to answer the question. It's intentionally vague. I could ask "what's the best hunting revolver ever made" or "what's the best self defense revolver ever made", etc.
However, the closest to my original intent would be:
If you had to pick one revolver to do everything that you would ever want a revolver to do (hunt, home defense, target, concealed carry) what would your choice be?
I humbly re-submit the S&W 686, except I'll get a little kinky and say the 686-4 because they built em right and that extra shot is nice...

The 686 gets my vote too. I've carried a 65 and it was sweet but the 686 looks and feels just a bit better. No dang lock though.

I'll stick with the 57, I'll need to get a better holster for cc but that hand cannon shoots like a dream.

Ruger Super Blackhawk in 44mag, 10-1/2"bbl, 2# trigger x2 I had a SS one for many years, and it was the best shooting sidearm I ever handled. And the frame is super strong, which is why it's used as the basis for the BFR. I regret selling that gun more than any other I ever sold. Probably not the best for CC, though (LOL!). For that, I come back to my FBI-issue S&W Model 13-3. >357 mag, with 3" bull barrel. Shoots minute of pie plate at 50yds, which should take care of any defense situation, including a disagreement with a hog.

I know of one cop who is alive this year because of second shot failure of a 44mag Ruger blackhawk due to a broken pawl.
Whether it be God's hand, luck, abuse, or manufacture defect...I can't force myself to buy another one.
