My brother and I are looking to escape the cold for a week or so this winter and drive down to Texas to hunt hogs and other varmits. We could go with one of the outfitters but don't want to just sit by a feeder and shoot a couple of hogs, we want to hunt wild ones in the bush. We also want to hunt them with handguns which we are not allowed to do in Canada, all we can do is take them to the range.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which area of Texas to go to and if there are areas that a guy could get permission to hunt without to much hassle?

Any help is appreciated.

I stalked with www.wildboaroutfitters.com north of winnsboro, tx (only 2 hours from dfw). rifles, shotguns, bows or handguns can hunt at his place (maybe more.. I didnt check).

I could set up a hog hunt for ya'll. What time of the year are ya'll wanting to come down? How many are in the group?

The hunts are in south Texas, the nearest place is still 1 1/2 hours south of San Antonio. But when your driving from Canada, whats an extra hour or two??

Right on Map, sent you a pm, we are hoping to make this work as after a couple of months of cold and snow we need to get away. Its also a long time until next season here and it would be nice to get a hog or two, especially with handguns as we can't do that here.

Went to Texas from Canada a couple of years ago hunting hogs and it was great, especially in February. Go you won't regret it.
