...and didn't see a dang thing. I went out tonight with a friend and hunted around the Cross Plains area. We hunted out of the back of his Amigo. The only calls we had were a Mini Blaster, and a Phantom hand held caller. No luck whatsoever. He's had luck in the past, and was surprised we didn't see or hear anything. We hunted from 8pm-11pm. We heard a few once that were a good ways away. There is a front blowing in, will that cause the yotes to stay bedded down? I know this is all pretty vague, but I'm new to the predator hunts. Any advise would be great. I'm looking at getting my own ecall, but don't want to go broke in the process. I'm looking at the Phantom Pro wr320 caller. Is that worth the money? My Dad has a few Phantom calls, and he's had good luck with them for turkey and deer. Again, any advise would be great. Thanks!

Like Tanner said, go with a foxpro IMO. You can also go on a trip with a guide and learn a ton in one night about how it is done and what are the best methods (what call to use, how long to play the call, how long to wait between calls, how to run the spotlight, etc). I have never used a phantom but from my experience and the results other members have posted with the foxpro, you can't go wrong with it.

The foxpro is kinda pricey but well worth the money. It actually works as advertised unlike some of the cheaper e-callers out their, so you can spend more time calling and less time jacking around with the call

Sometimes there will be nights like that. Don't give up. Next time you may see something every place you call. Never know...

I know the feeling, hunted about 2-hours last night and the wind was terrible. Got up this morn and hunting from 7am-noon and only called in one hawk and 2 flocks of crows. That was it....

Actually, they tend to be more active just before and after a storm or significant front. The Mini-Blaster should be all you need anyway (although I like FOXPRO and Burnham Brothers e-callers).

Like some of the guys said, it is hunting. You don't always get on them.

Were you able to go in quietly and have the truck hidden a bit? No door slamming? You don't mention your light? Were you possibly "lighting up" the truck?

FWIW-I am not a big fan of Phantom callers. Too restrictive. Not enough bang for the buck.

Thanks for all the replies. I know hunting is pretty much a crap shoot. We waited about 5-10 min after shutting off the truck before we started calling. The truck was parked against the brush. We might have lit the truck up at times with our lights. I was using a Nightblaster rechargeable 2,000,000 candle power. It will be going back to Academy. It died way to quick. Not sure what my buddy was using. It was 3,000,000 candle power and he had it plugged into the truck. What would yall recommend for a spotlight? I have a one man popup blind that I use for turkey, should I go that route? Or does it not matter during night hunts. Thanks again for any tips. -Mac

Any spotlight with a red lens will work. I wouldn't use a pop up at night, unless you can see and shoot 360 degrees with ease. Never know where they will show up. If you are spotlighting from the truck, i would get an extended cord so that you can step away from the truck. Try not to shine the light so the truck lights up, gives your position away. Maybe get a cord long enough to reach the bed and you can stand up in the bed and shine your light 360 degree
