The best present of all is that it is Opening Day II on my birthday. Come on 12/11.....I'm having trouble coping this week. I tried working the dog and scouting, watched some hunting videos....it's just not the same......the split SUCKS.

I took my little girl to town to see Santa Claus this morning and now I'm watching recorded episodes of Beretta's Waterfowlers Edge.

Not really. I just think of it as not having to feel guilty for not wanting to hunt this morning.

Split gives me enough time to repair my boat each year. Since it always seems to break down on opening day!

I just got it running again, also got all my dekes cleaned up and sprayed with a matte clear coat. Also just cleaned out the garage. Now I need to go get some christmas shopping done, that's why WOMEN invented the split!!

My buddy went to our lease in North Texas this morning, and said all the lakes, and ponds were covered in ducks, and geese. i can`t wait till Saturday morning !!!!!

Tell me about it. Out of sheer boredom I edged the driveway, planted a tree, trimmed a tree, and mowed the lawn today. It doesn't feel right sleeping in during hunting season.

@ Quack Stacker The split is when the season stops for a two week period and then resumes until Jan. Give time for the majority of birds to make their way to their breeding grounds and gives me time to get ready for it to start up again!

Lmao!! The rig I'm working with is about 200 hundred yards from a certain lakes nature preserve area and it's just simply ridiculous every morning over that way!! Then there's a old rock query right next to us about 75 yds away with a blind set up on it!! I get to stare at that and all the birds every morning for the last 4 days. But luckily met the land owner yesterday and gave me permission to hunt and use said blind!!! Stupid split!!

I deffinitley feel guilty for sleeping in it feels like i am cheating myself. I will be in iowa on the reopener so good luck to everyone who is hunting it

Yep it does. Did some Christmas shopping with the kiddos and got the rest of the Christmas Lights up.

Got to plan better for the split Staturday.

i haven't hunted duck since the last weekend in October. I went to up to my in-laws at thanksgiving to deer hunt and then got sick and couldn't go out for 5 of the 6 possible hunts. Then this weekend i sent my wife away on a girls weekend for her birthday and stayed home with the boys.

so my weekend consisted of...


i practiced duck and deer calls last night for a few hours while the kids watched "Up."

I cleaned both my rifle and shotgun even though I'm pretty sure I cleaned both after hunting with each of them last.

I counted my ammo.

I bought a new choke for my remington.

I repacked my decoy bag.

I went through my fishing lures and threw out some plastics that got sticky.

I put on all my gear and saw how my new thermals fit underneath my waders.

I hung Christmas lights.






This weekend can't get here fast enough.

Just got out of the hot tub... the heat is off, I was in my new waders...water is cold, I couldn't tell.
