The Govt. Trappers really keep the coyotes thinned out in that area. They are busy boys........

Still lots of bobocats and foxes though.

Yeah my inlaw's lease is a few miles south of Ozona. They have been hunting out there for 20-30 years and have NEVER seen or heard a coyote out there.

Ghostrider could you tell me where the lease is at with respect to Ozona? My father in law is just really curious and is waiting to see a picture of it. Some members of the lease are doubtful that lions have been spotted while only 4-5 guys have actually spotted them out there. Not sure while some aren't convinced they are out there. The ranch is loaded with goats, sure sounds like an easy dinner for a big cat if you ask me.

Seen one just on the east side of Abilene bout 10 years ago and seen tracks at our place just south of Hamlin. Mountain lion that is, but I know a lot of old timers in that area would argue with that writer bout there being no black panthers in Texas.

30% of this site thinks they've seen a black panther.

But 100% of them are wrong.

Wondering why the Government trappers work West Texas. Why not the rest of the state?

Just curious.

My guess would be that West Texas has more sheep and goats that are threatened more by the predators than other live stock. Just a guess though.

Vast country. Bigger ranches, larger leases, fewer hunters, more canyons, breaks etc would be my guess.

looked to be rutting hard this past weekend. drove past a couple of fighting bucks that were ten feet off the road and saw another buck chasing a doe about 20 yards from where they were locking antlers.
