Call for 2 or 3 minutes stop and watch then start the sequence again for 20 min then move a mile or so and do another stand.
Start with the volume low and increase so you dont spook anything that might be near you.
If your looking for coyotes fox 15-20 min is good, if its bobcats you want stay longer 45min to an hour they are slower to respond.

I agree with most of that. With an e-caller, it is best (IMHO) to let it run continuously. The rule of thumb is: coyotes 20 minutes, foxes 10-15 minutes, bobcats 30 minutes, lions 60 minutes. Here is a link to the article on using e-callers I wrote for "Predator Xtreme": http://www.predatorxtreme-digital.com/predatorxtreme/200904#pg77Of course the first rule in calling coyotes is that "There aren't any rules!" They can and will come from anywhere at any time. Be ready! Good Hunting, Bob

I break up the sequences for this one simple reason. I've watched them come in and when the call stops they stop. It might be that chance you're looking for. When I was shopping for an electronic call I noticed that a lot of hunters complained about lack of volume. I'd say keep your volume as low as you can. If you can hear it, 75-100 yards away, those buggers can hear it in California. Breathe and squeeze.

I call pretty much continuos, this has had the most success for me(as soon as the call stops, i start it over again). I called in a coyote last night with this approach. I want to say it took 20-25 minutes. But i can't be certain, i wasn't watching the clock to see how long it was. It also depends on how much land you have access to. If your place is small and you don't have many other places you can call, sit there and call a while. Just don't to it to frequent on the property if it is small, you can burn the place out pretty quickly.

You guys are far more patient than I am. I'm usually bored by 10 minutes, and 15 minutes feels like an eternity when nothing is happening. Rarely do we call a spot for more than 20 minutes, and that's usually only when we really expect something to be at that location. Anything longer than that and I'll have to eat a snack

I usually have a dip of copenhagen in, and am sipping on a weller and 7. So it takes a lot for me to get bored with that combination.

I use both mouth calls and a Johnny Stewart prey master. I just use the same sequence of start and stop with the prey master as I do with mouth calls. I've found that a fox is usually the first one in to a call and sometimes a coon will come pretty quickly. I've also called in a couple of owls and several crows in the day time. Good luck to all.

Yeah, we have had foxes come running to the truck we where calling from within 30 seconds b4. Run right up next to the truck, kinda makes for a tuff shot when you are shooting from a high rack and don't want shoot the side mirror off. IME coyotes and cats do take a lot more to call in. Let us know how you do with the continuos calling.
