I had a up and down weekend. We buried my 92 year old Grandmother Saturday. I was able to get to my lease for a day Friday and had one of the best hunting days of my life. our lease is in Montalba Texas. I saw 14 does and 12 bucks during my hunt and was able to harvest the 12th buck that i saw he was a true 6 pt. with 17.5 inch spread. The rut is still on in Anderson county. Saturday while at the funeral another hunter harvested a 8pt. buck with 14 inch spread that I shot and knocked down opening weekend but couldnt find after trailing it for over a half mile. He shot the deer in the same area where we lost the blood trail. This deer snorted at him then stood up from laying down and he shot him . After inspecting the deer he found a old bullet wound from when i shot him. It looked as if the deer had been in the same spot for a while. How it was still alive i dont know but at least we didnt loose the deer and the meat didnt go to waste. My nephew also harvested a 7 pt. with 16 inch spread Sunday. This 15 year old boy shot this deer running from 200 yds he is quite a shot. This was a great weekend for hunting for a little 300plus acre lease in Anderson Co.

Big Red thanks ironically she was from Crandall Funeral was at the little baptist church by Dairy queen. My mother and dad are from Crandall but lived there many years ago. Crandall has changed alot from back in the 60s and 70s when i hung out there quite a bit. My Gramps was a cotton farmer and rancher i have alot of good hunting memories from back then. Dove hunting was really good
