A friend of mine has adopted a platoon in Afghanistan for Christmas. One of the request for her Christmas care package is deer jerky. She is trying to find some by next week in order to get the package to them somewhere in the mountains of Afghanistan by Christmas. She said she will buy it and pick it up if you or somebody you know can help her out. She lives in Paradise, TX (Wise County) and works for American Airlines. So, she don't mind having to drive out of her way to get it.
Please send me an email with information and I'll pass it onto her.
Thanks,
Jodie

Good luck with that. Wish I could help, but no way I could turn any out by then. I made and sent tons when my son was over there, and sounds like he's about to go again... the boys over there love it. One tip. Tell her to bag it up with a vacuum sealer in a bunch of smaller packs of 8-10 pcs. Good for tucking in pockets and opening only what they eat at a time and share around. One big bag didn't work that well out in the field.

Thanks so much for the tip...I'll pass it onto her.
My daughter is going again in April, I think I'm going to ask Santa to bring me a dehydrator.
I have an eye on a couple of tender morsels out back.

www.cabelas.com has it and lots of other website. You can't buy wild deer though.

Sent some over when a reletive was there. If marked Venison or Deer Jerkey it never made it to him. Marked Beef Jerky it always got through.

I've sent about 50 boxes with it, and all the jerky made it fine, and I marked the packs as venison. We used those flat rate boxes and I don't think one ever got opened and checked. Rules were no weapons, booze, tobacco products, or girlie mags, but pretty sure deer jerky is up. On the shipping form we just listed it as jerky though, so maybe that's the diff...

Texas best smoke houses sell it at any of their truck stops. I didn't take a deer yet so no help here.

If you would be willing to post the shipping address for the platoon, we could probably ship some direct

I'm sorry for not checking this earlier. I'll get the APO from Patty and post it.

I believe posting an APO/FPO address on a public site like this would be a violation of OPSEC but I could be wrong. might be best to PM the address. I am sure someone will correct me if I am off base.
