Hey fellas, this is my 8th hunt (some mornings, some evenings, some all day hunts.) haven't seen a single animal move. Shot a turkey opening day. An 8 pointer was taken here on Saturday morning. Figured I'd give it a shot since temps are in the low 30's right now.

Currently looking at 2 feeders, 1-125yds, 2-100yds. Keep y'all posted, anybody have any reports from the north freer or 2359 area???

Been sitting here since 530am. No movement what so ever. Feeders went off at 6am. Maybe no deer in this area.

Actually I'm double clothed, so I'm warm except for my ears. Winds very light this morning. Figure I'll sit in here till 9 or 10am. If I don't see anything, I'll call it a day.

I hunt about 16 miles north of Freer....In McMullen county and literally a 1/4 of a mile from Duvall county. I have been to our ranch on 3 weekends since opening day. We've seen quite a few deer (the residents) and have seen some new deer moving in...but no shooters yet...just some young 8's. We have turkey and piggies ALL over us...as well as coyotes and bobcats. So far we have killed 2 hogs...2 coyotes and a bobcat...I have a very busy December but will be back out there on the weeknd of the 18th...then back on the 28th for a week of hunting...i am hopeful the rut will be in full swing then...Property hasn't been hunted for over 30 years so were are somewhat hopeful we'll catch a biggun here real soon...

I knew several guys that had a lease in San Diego not far from Freer last season and they didn't see a thing last year. I hunted down there several times and I saw 4 or 5 deer and that was more than the rest of the guys on that lease combined saw the whole season.

I'm off 624 and Old San Diego Rd...family land that hasn't been hunted in 30+ years. The neighbors tell us there are a lot of small tracts around us, along with one fairly large tract a widow leased out the last 5 years. From what I understand from the neighbors, the "if it's brown it's down" mentality has been the m o around there. Maybe true, we haven't seen anything close to a shooter. We have about 5 resident does with their yearlings...a little spike and 2 eights that have passed through. We still have hope we're gonna see a shooter passing through during the rut....until then we'll keep slayin the pigs, coyotes and bobcats....
