anyone ever use a fishing float tube to hunt or retrieve birds/dekes with??

no dog, some places we go can only walk or 4 wheeler in so too hard to get a yak or flatbottom there. i have a float tube, never been in the water, thinking about taking to chase cripples or deads and dekes that float too deep.. any input? thanks

bored at work... if you can't tell!!!

Just doesn't sound like a good idea to me. You might win the Darwin award though.

I think it could be a good idea for some spots. Had a friend that use to duck hunt with one, you can get around on those things with fins on your feet!! I guess you need stocking foot waders.

I used one they are good in water you can walk around in but a pain to put the fins on and retrieve anything. it also works as a great layout blind with a big peice of camo to cover yourself with

Actually, _Scooter_ and I were discussing if that could be used. Found a spot today that if you don't drop them in the first 75 yards, you get a bird going into deep water. A float tube might be the perfect solution to not having a boat or dog.

Best thing I have ever used is a fishing pole with a huge top water bait and the largest line you can put on it....

I have hunted out of one and after you try it, it will probably be your last time. Ducks are fast and they will be in your face, it is hard to turn and shoot in those things with them rocking back and forth, also you will get wet, if there is hydrilla its even worse.
You can get in the middle of the decoys and they will almost lite on you though.

Yeah we discussed it. I actually have hunted from a U-Boat float tube before in NY. It works, but if you don't clock the bird pretty hard they swim alot faster than I can in a float tube!

I was actually thinking of using like a packable cheapo river tube that could be used in the off chance that we needed to grab a dead/crippled floater. Could pack it in a backpack and deploy only if absolutely necessary. Hands would get pretty cold trying to paddle out there and the gun would be at risk of falling off of lap.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

It didn't and I have not gone and built a blind yet... but it will be the same place as we hunted- just not gonna allow coffee drinkers in there...
