Well I showed up at DB Hunting today. As always it was a great time. Jake told me the Catalina I was there to hunt was hanging out with a couple of rams and that he had not seen them in a couple days. Wasn't sure how long it would take to find them, and with me on crutches it could be fun. So I am sitting in the truck while Jake is shutting the gate. I look out the front windshield and there are two rams. Jake says those are the ones, we drive the truck in a way and turn around. There he is, so I get out figuring I am using a 30-06 so one shot should be enough. I fired and he jumped back and took off on three legs. So we went a little farther forward and I shot again...off he ran! I was using the Remington managed recoil 125 gr. I thought that would be pleanty. He went into some cedar so thick that I told Jake he has to be about dead, take the gun and finish him, I cant get in there. So off Jake goes and in about 10 minutes I hear another shot. Jake comes back to get me and says "He's not dead yet, follow me!" We went towards the back of the property and I shot again and he took off. There was some blood around and I knew I had hit him once. I told Jake to Run forward and finish him. Found him laying under a thick stand of cedar. Jake shot and I have never heard and animal bellow like that! I got there and crutches(about 50 yards) and he was finally just about dead. When we put him on the talegait of the truck he had been hit four times. I couldn't believe it. My first round had shattered on his front shoulder and my second shot was a gut pass through. Jake shot one that entered above my first shot and came out towards the back and the second shot we didn't see an exit wound. I never would have guessed those things were that tough.

Sweet! I am really happy that you had a great hunt with us and thanks for posting up.

Jake called me Monday after your hunt and said, "Dustin, We just shot a Great White Billy Goat!" Great pics and I think he will make an awesome shoulder mount. Danny thinks he is a little bigger than the one I took a couple of years ago. Take care!

It's better to be judged by 12, than to be carried by 6!!!

My family and I have many goats/rams on our walls And by far the toughest animal out of them all were the little African mountain goats. I had three clean pass throughs with rage 3blades and still didn't go down till he died of blood loss 150 yards from the last shot! Strong willed little guys!
