We're just over two weeks into rifle season and was wondering how many hours some of you might have logged in a stand so far?

Saw someone else mention how much time they'd done and it got me to thinking.

I don't bow hunt or have MLD's, so November 6th was the first day for me. Since then, I've spent right around 40 hours either in a stand or stalking around. Sounds like alot when I list it that way considering that's been pretty much only on the weekends other than one morning and one evening hunt. I was figuring an average of 4 hours per sit, though a couple of days I've hunted dawn till dusk.

I'm starting to understand why my wife gets a bit irritated during deer season. The upside, it makes her really appreciate all the golf I play the rest of the year.

KL.....you're probably about double me thus far, but I hope to add to the total this week sometime. Problem I always run into is time to get away for extended periods anymore. Last week I got in two different afternoon hunts but on two different days leaving after lunch and returning home the same day.

Happy to have a place 100 miles from the house though.

Seen anything good at your place?

Haven't seen a thing I'd shoot, on the hoof or on camera. Reports of a big guy running around, but he hasn't been to a feeder on my place. It's been real slow the last few hunts, but I blame it on the weather, the moon, the acorns, or a combo of all that. Hoping the cold weather helps later this week.

Hunting close to home is a good deal. I've driven back for all of my hunts other than opening weekend. Being right at an hour from the stand makes it pretty easy to get back to the house every night.

Had to cancel a ski trip that was planned for Christmas, so I've got alot of vacation to burn. Fortunately, I'll get to do alot of that in a deer stand which isn't a bad trade in my book.

Talked to a buddy who hunts out near you. Said it'd been slow for him as well. Said the best buck he'd seen taken this year was off his place, but taken by road hunters. Keep your eyes open out there.

about 45 deer hunting anyway... total field time (during deer season) is to high to count, but when i go to hunt, i hunt all day and most of the night, just not always for deer.

MLD so with scouting and hunting around 200 or more so far this season. One season under MLD I only missed 6 total days of hunting from 1st part of Oct till last of Feb. That was mainly hunting mornings and evening though with somedays all day long in there also. Seemed liked the season just ended and it started again that year.

I have 60hrs in just in hunting alone. I stay in my stand til noon then get out for 1-2hrs then back in til dark. I average 11-12hrs a day, lol. Will be better this next time though as the deer will be hitting the feeders regularly and the moon won't be an issue, lol.

Since I only get to hunt Friday afternoons-Sunday, I would say 45-50 hours so far. I am glad my lease is fairly close to home!

just took a week off of work and hunted for 9 straigh days, about 65-70 hours total. plus 15 hours opening weekend and two weekends in bow season totaling about 25 hours. so pushing 110 hours on stand. the tag sandwich thats staring me in the face is gonna taste really bad if i cant get it done dec 12th or new years weekends with so much time and effort invested.

Way too many according to my wife and not enough to connect with the one I want.

If I was guessing I would say around 160. I go every other weekend (usually get in the Friday afternoon hunt) and spent 3 extended weekends in Kansas. I usually spend around 6-8 hours a day in the stand, in Kansas I missed 6 hours total in four days one weekend and the other weekends probably missed out on about 4 hours a day.
