I've tried several places, but none have really made me want to rush back. Not that they weren't good, but they weren't real memorable. I've heard there's a place in Decatur, but don't know the name. I mainly eat in Bridgeport, but find myself going to Chicken Express over the local places.

Anybody have some suggestions? Taking a group up to my place to hunt in a couple of weeks and would like to find something pretty good. Steaks or chicken-fries are preferred.

Thanks

There is a place in an(I think) an EXXon station in Rhome that sells awesome burgers! It is called Big Z Travel Center at 405 W.Rhome 817-638-2057 It's where you are traveling on 114 past the racetrack and you have to take an exit to continue west on 114.

Been years ago, but I remember stopping at Armondo's in Decatur which was pretty good Tex-Mex. And a little out of the way, but the old Jim Bowie Restaurant at 287 and 59 just south of Bowie used to be really good.....we'd stop there almost every trip going to OK to see my grandparents back when they were alive, but it's been probably 8 years since I ate their.

I give Frillys a up. Sweetie Pies is "OK" or average I guess. I have heard good things about Bonos, but never ate there.

Cool story. Always like it when it pays off to be a good guy. Was that the place with the jeep parked up on the rock? I've been thinking about trying that spot.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys. I'll try a couple of them.

Driving through Paradise a week ago headed to Graham I noticed an Ojedas Mexican food sign on a building just South of the stoplight and the signage looked the same as the Dallas Ojedas so I may have to try it the next time I travel through.

+1 on Armondo's. Used to go eat there every time i went to visit my Grandmother in Decatur. Better than eating Chicken E every time.

Jim Bowie burned down a couple of years ago. Casa Torres in Decatur is not bad and Tater Junction outside of Boyd is pretty good too

Yesterday's Texas is pretty darn good, there is one about a mile from the Chicken E in Bridgeport and there is also one on 287 in Decatur. I grew up in Bridgeport lived there for 21 years and trust me there is not a whole lot of good choices, I have always said someone could get rich there if they could run a good ol fashined clean resteraunt there!

Dos chillis in bridgeport would be my second choice I guess.

Yes it is good. They have moved across the street in a big nice building. Hopefully the food is still as good.

I ate at the Ojedas in Paredise last week and it was good. Owned by the same people that have the Ojedas in Dallas area.

The Allsups in Chico has some good burritos.

Bono's is always packed, so it must not be too bad.

Theres a new Mexican place in Bowie, Spicy Mexico. It is great and service makes you tired just watching them. It is owned by the family that owns Mazatlan in Denton. It's on Wise street close to "downtown"

Armondo's is no more. That place went bad quickly and now is something else.

Decatur-Yesterday's Texas (Chicken Fried Steak)
Bono's (steaks)
Frilley's (good cajun food)
Sweetie Pie's (on the square, not bad steak)
Cow Camp Steakhouse (on 287 going towards Alvord)
Casa Torres (Best mexican food in Wise County. Must try)

Bridgeport-Dos Chiles Grandes

Paradise-Finish Line (I think is what it is called. Next to school, good burgers) been a while since I have been there

They pretty muched nailed it. Dos Chilis in Bridgeport and Casa Torres in Decatur are both above average mexican food establishments imo. I ate at Ojeda's in Paradise yesterday and that thing was really good too. If you don't want mexican food you are pretty much out of luck though. The burger joing Rock City is ok but priced to high imo. Stevens Street Grill is alright for a chicken fry but service is usually slow.

The one place I forget about is Raymond's BBQ. It is really good but I just don't eat there much. Also a really above average Italian food place on the way to the lake. Can't think of the name but it is awesome.

The one thing that is missing is good country diner. Not one to be found worth a hoot.

Raymond's is fantastic. is the Italian place the one close to the Hwy 114-380 cross section? If so yes that place is awesome.

My hunting buddy and I tried Ramonds once and that was once too many. Some of the worst BBQ I have ever had. We ordered chopped beef sandwiches and the guy chopped and chopped and chopped it until it was mush. The only thing that was worth eating was the rolls.
We now refer to it a Raymonds Barf BQ.

Yes that is the Italian food place. Pronto's is the name. I just couldn't think of it the other day.
