My place is on the Palo Pinto/Stephens line. I didn't hunt this weekend and am going to go down midweek instead, but a couple of guys on my lease called and said it was real slow. A guy a pasture or two over shot a nice one, but our guys saw very little activity.

Windy and warm conditions probably hurt some.

We are having the same proplem while others close by are shooting and killing lots of deer.

1.It was a full moon this weekend.

2. Bucks are ready but does may not be.

3.Plenty of food out there for our deer. They walk right past the feeders and our small food plots.

Went to the locker plant last night in Hamilton and they said they were 100 deer up from last year on deer. Game warden also said he had seen lots of deer killed.

Hang in there the does should get real hot in the next 14 days and the real bucks will start running. Its going to get cold this week and that will help bring the deer to the feeders.

My guess is the Hamilton meat lockers overflow during Thanksgiving!

i am between hico and hamilton. this weekend was hot, very windy, with a full moon. not good for deer movement. i only saw one deer but it was a pretty good buck. have seen few does all year. is interesting to see how the deer sightings went down when the weather turned based on the reports from other places.

I'm between Hico and Stephenville, pretty slow so far this season for us.

Hate to tell you but the rut is over on our place in bosque county, my brothers place in hill county they are just finishing up. We are now seeing a much shorter compact rut that we were years ago but the activity within that window many times greater than it used to be. As with alot of years the rut primarily took place at night due the the unseasonably warm temps (and the timing of the full moon). There was just one real good day, actually a day and a half where they moved well during the day. Bucks were chasing hard from nov. 8 to 14/15th, it is now definitely post rut.

I hunt between Hamilton and Evant. Deer Movement was slow Today, but since the season has started it has been mainly young bucks Chasin. Bigger bucks have all been seen rubbing or eating out of our feeders.Starting to see alot more scrapes and rubs. My brother killed a Main Frame 10 on opening weekend. We have seen more deer this year compared to last year. Just waiting on the right one to step out! They are not far away from rutting at our place!

We hunt in duffau and the guys are not seeing anything either. According to the game warden no one is

I have some good friends that have taken huge bucks this year in hamilton. One 181 opening day of bow. Three nice bucks taken this past weekend all nice mature bucks. They lost a place in ozona they had for 20yrs and got on in hamilton last minute. Very happy and surprised with results

I hunt in Meridian and this morning I shot a big doe, that was the first deer I've seen on our place this year. Went 3 days of bow season-nothing, went 2 weeks ago for 2 days-nothing, went friday/saturday/sunday-nothing this morning watching our oates field a doe stepped out and I took it. Has been a really slow starting year. There is a TON of acorns. Very little movement. I took the doe to the processor in town and they said this has been one of they're busiest years. ?. Maybe once all the acorns are gone and it finally cools down we'll have better luck.

That's strange, I hunt in Meridian and see deer everytime I go out. I saw a nice 10pt Saturday night that would go high 120s and that's the biggest I've seen but I've saw alot of young 8pts, and a few spikes and fork horns along with alot of does

Well I guess I forgot to mention my bro-in-laws uncle decided to run a few cows on the land, his new get rich quick idea- LOL. That is what I am blaming most of our bad start on... Last year was a great year.

That could be part of it. Which direction from Meridian are you hunting?

We are off 2130. go straight through town, up the hill and turn right at 1473. Been going there for about 5 years now. What area are you in? big bucks on our place are pretty scarce allot of spikes and 4-6 pointers. Brother in law did kill a real nice 10 2 years ago.

Talk about coincidences, I hunt within 10miles of you. This is our first year out there as our only lease, but I've hunted there several times in the past

I have hunted our lease in Walnut Springs and it has been VERY slow. During bow season I saw maybe 10 deer hitting my feeder up until I missed at a doe. As I recall I was thinking of jalapeno deer sausage on my plate as I shot too high. My buddies son shot a really nice 8 pt but nothing else. We were out this weekend and I swear aliens have come and taken all of our deer. I have pics of deer but of course they are at night and when I am not at the lease. Took a week off last week to hunt and saw only four deer. I have seen young bucks on the neighboring ranches hanging together. I think I have tried it all: corn in feeders, deer blocks, buck bombs, Buck-Crack and I even attempted to use the glands off the buck my buddies boy shot. They were musky and dark but really were not the normal smelly and very dark and wet glands like they are during the rut. I have dedicated this whole season to having the opportunity to get a very nice Bosque county deer but am not having luck. I do however have to say my son and I have bonded like we have never been before. It seems as if a higher power is holding the deer back so my son and I can just have some great lasting memories that he will never forget. This weekend I have to say we did laugh more in our blinds that we ever have before. With mother nature totally against deer hunting this weekend, we made the best of it. By the way if any of your travel Hwy 6 east towrds I-35, I had some really great breakfast tacos in Valley Mills at Olga's. This weekend was the first weekend they were open up on Sunday so I hope they did well because I hope to eat there again this coming Sunday. My son and I have agreed that we will spend time with our wonderful family for Thanksgiving but come Friday afternoon, we will be in our blind attempting to keep warm and see if this cold blast will get the deer moving. I firmly believe that the true "rut" has not happened yet but we are very near. Good luck to all who are traveling in these next couple and days and Happy Thanksgiving to each of you.

I hunt in between Cranfills Gap and Hamilton. Just got back from 8 days on the lease and there was very little activity. A few doe and a nice 12 pt across a fence but thats about it. Opening day I shot a very nice, big doe. Hopefully things will pick up this weekend with the cold coming in.

Though I haven't made it down to Bosque yet this season, I hunt a place down there that gets very little pressure and has a large deer population. Reports I've heard are that they're seeing deer, but it's been slower than usual.

Acorns are the issue, just like everywhere else.

My dad's ranch is right on the leon river on the comanche hamilton line and his report said "the friggin deer were everywhere" . Due to working alot this year he hasn't set foot on the place since spring. No corn no tree trimmin' nothing. Him my uncle ray and buddy Kurtis went out this last weekend and all saw atleast 20 every time they went to the stand. Ray and Kurtis both shot and missed at does hammer Said they saw buck's just no shooter's. I sent mark with 10#'s of BC and he had three does come eat it. Just as he was getting ready to squeeze on a big fat doe this guy came flyin' over a fence and straight to the does. He stopped to smell one of the does and that was just long enough for Mark to put one through the heart at 110yd's with the black powder. Not a big deer for his ranch but he said it was just too neat seein' it happen like that and he was itching for his first black powder buck.

This was his first buck in almost 5 year's of passing on all the others and his first muzzleloader buck. I personally saw and smelled the buck and believe me he was in the peak of his rut. I could smell him from a good way's away. He was not the only buck chasing they said and they are sure to get a few more over this coming weekend.

Gatesville report = slow. Seen a few older broken bucks and a few spikes all season. Going for Turkey day and the weekend. Cold front should get them moving. Good luck!!
