I think this was talked about on here last year but I am just making sure. I hunt in Callahan County and it is 2 bucks. Can I legally kill 2 bucks there and take 1 buck in Jones county? Thanks for your input.

Opening weekend killed a 6.5 year old 13 point. My cousin who has a place in Jones County is wanting me to come out and take a cull buck. I didnt know if I wanted to burn the tag if I couldnt use a third at my place in Callahan.... I have a few spikes that could use a killing, also never know if a big mature one is going to show up..... would like to have a tag in case. Didnt really want my season to be over before Thanksgiving.

That's an answer,,, your seasons over when you fill your buck tags.

I see does everytime I go hunting. I can get them at anytime. Its nice to have a buck tag in case big boy steps out or to help out your own herd with a cull.

You can only kill a 3rd buck if you take it from a 3 buck county.

You can't take 2 bucks from a 2 buck county then go kill a 3rd in a different 1 or 2 buck county.

Yessir, I'm positive. I used to hunt in a 2 buck county but always had an invite to a 3 buck county. I asked a GW personally and he confirmed.

Technically, you can shoot a buck in a 1 buck county, then another in a 2 buck county and a third in a 3 buck county.

per the reg's, you get three bucks, only the county limits count for your tags. Thats off of page 58 that i just looked at. As I understand it, everyone could kill three bucks, but you can only take X amount from each county.

you can... I can kill (3) 13"+ bucks in counties around our places (1 buck per county). That's why it's important to log the county on the back of the license.



with lots of land spread out over several counties...shooting 3 bucks isn't a problem, but doubt I'll ever do it. Have only done that one year, but that was all done through permits.

Think of it this way. What if you shot two bucks in a three buck county, then a third in a one buck county.

Now switch it, you take one buck in a one buck county, and two in a three buck county.

Youve killed the same deer, just in a different order. Both would have to be legal

I'm glad you pointed that out. I was of the understanding that you could only use your 3rd buck tag in a 3 buck county. Learn something new everyday.

I kinda thought that you could shoot another buck to fill your 3rd tag in another county, but I didn't wanna call anyone on it, lol!!! I knew what the manual said cuz I read it again just to make sure I was thinking on the right track, lol!!!

You can take 2 bucks from a 2 buck county and a 3rd buck from a 1 or 2 or 3 buck county. I personally asked the game warden too. We hunt 3 different counties and could take 1 buck from each county. With antler restrictions in place this is very hard to do and I doubt it happens very much. It's hard enough to get 1!!!
