This past off season, I had the itch to buy an AR-15. I had to sell a few guns, including my Remington .270 in order to get the funds.

I knew I would be going deer hunting this year and took the chance that my buddies would laugh at me when I walked in the deer camp with my Assault rifle in tow.

Well my fears were justified! The told me that terrorists were not allowed in this deer camp etc.... I told them that they must be talking about an AK-47!

I new the regular 55 grain rounds would not work real well on any deer and I would be taking a chance on wounding one instead of making a clean kill. I decided to ask around at my local gun shop and they recommended Ultramax hollow point ballistic tip 62 grain reloads.

Anyway, I dropped two spikes this weekend. One shot each from that terrorist gun. I am sure the bullets had alot to do with it, but I was still surprised at how effective they were.

Needless to say, there were 8 guys hunting and my brother and I were the only ones to come home with anything. He shot a doe and of course I cleared the place of a few spikes!

My new nickname is now Killer! I know that two spikes is not exactly something to brag about, but it was still a whole lot of fun watching my buddies eat a little crow! If it had not been for my little terrorist rifle it would have really been boring around the camp for 3 days.

I may just keep using that gun in the future!

my son shot his ram with 223. granted it was a single shot but still the same caliber! he dropped it where it stood. it just goes to show its all about shot placement!!! those rams are tough animals. congrats on ur kills

It's not how you fall, It's how you get up.

Hollow point ballistic tip??? In the 223 round ballistic tips are more effective and WTD and I have killed several with Hornady 55 gr red tips. Good buttlet for my 223.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.
