I killed one in northern McCulloch county around 30 years ago. My dad came home from work and told me he saw one on the side of the road a few miles back. I took a 20 gauge shotgun with me just in case. I got out of the truck and he didn't seem to be concerned about me at all. Have always read they can kill dogs because they will roll on their backs and just rip their bellies out. So I convinced myself that he wanted to go home with me. Plus I figured my friends wouldn't believe me unless they saw it! lol
Also saw someone that had one as a pet years ago at the world famous Elm Grove rodeo. They had the dang thing on lease and harness.

That's awesome. We used to have them around our ranch but haven't seen one in over a decade, the videos of them working with coyotes to get food underground is pretty cool. Get yourself a couple of ill-tempered dachshunds like below and they'll tear those things apart, or at least that was what they were bred for. We lost this one for over 2 hours before we found her several feet into ground in a skunk's den. They are fearless.

I saw one dead just south of Abilene before the 83/84 split 6 months ago. Last one alive I saw was a good 7 years ago running across a country road by the highway. LOVE to get one in person. I know there are SOME around, just far & few.

Badgers make beautiful mounts. Check some of them out on our website in the gallery under lifesizes.
Mccown your little Dachshund is cute. Yes they are fearless and the German word dachshund literally translates into badgerdog.

Thanks sappertitan. We are only 35 minutes from Killeen in Andice. If you're ever in the area stop by and take a look at our work in our shop. We also pick up at Cospers on W.S.Young.

Nice!
I bow stroked 3 in Uvalde County back in the mid 90's. 2 in one season.

I saw one on our place south of May about 15 years ago. I saw another dead on the road near Winchell.

Do skull in felt back rug mount. They are real cool and look good on a wall or hearth.

My son killed one this weekend in Aspermont. He is doing the skull only because the 30-06 blew his entire mid-section away.

I see them fairly often, and yes, they are totally fearless.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.
