I am not seeing the Deer I have seen in the past 3-4 years coming into my feeder. Last night while sitting in my stand it occurred to me. Do you thing buying "Cheap" Corn, from places such as Wal-mart, Academy, Dicks versus Corn from Feed store taste any different to Deer?

This year I decided to purchase 40lb sacks of corn from Dicks for $4.50 and the Corn is not Cleaned. The previous years I have always bought from Feed Stores. Just curious on anyone thoughts

Next question, if it is the corn should dump whats in the feeder and trying different corn? Or just take my losses for the year? Thanks for your input.

I buy my corn from the same places as you do and it hasn't made a difference. If you've got lots of Oak trees around they may still be chowing down on the acorns. If you are overly infested with hogs, maybe they are causing the deer to stay away more than usual. confused2

i believe all the corn bought at dicks, academy etc has been cleaned or you would constantly have spinner plug ups due to the trash stalk, cob etc. you more than likely are experiencing a good acorn crop which will keep the deer on natural food sources till they are gone. corn is corn.JMO

Thousands of folks buy "cheap" corn and it works just fine. The only issue that I have found with uncleaned corn is can clog up the feeder.

If I was going to venture a guess as to why you aren't seeing the deer that you are used to seeing, it would be based on the natural vegetation in your area rather than the corn that you are using. Many folks are having the same issue and not seeing the numbers at the feeders this year due to things like acrons and such.

Thanks for all the advise, I do have alot of Oak Trees where I am hunting so I figure its probably the Acorns. Hopefully they are all about gone.

I don't think the cheap corn has anything to do with it

I also heard corn is like candy to deer not a real source of food
