Buddy scouted 3 Central Texas Lakes and did not see so much as a coot. Good luck out there this weekend. I am getting up at 2 in the morning for a little drive to another region to see if I can get lucky going in blind on some spots I have hunted in years past.

I knew what this was going to say before I read it.

"There are no ducks in central Texas. Move along." smile

I don't think he's kidding. I haven't even seen a coot in the ponds off of Mopac.

I hunted 4 times since Sunday all over the place and can honestly say that there aren't any birds here right now.

Wasn't born in Texas, but I got there as fast as I could.

There are no ducks in Cen-tex this weekend!! realmad Hit a stock tank this a.m. that is always good for 1/2 dozen or more ducks. I never even shouldered the gun. Dave Speer had A,single, all by its self wigeon hover for what seemed like 1/2 an hour 10 yards off his feet till he decided to sit up and swat it out of the air. That was the only duck seen all morning. Trip home included. bang

The ducks on that strap took about 8 hours of drive time to bring home. Its hard work being a duck hunter in the Centex right now.

shot a pretty mixed bag saturday. Teal, pintail, teal, wigeon and of course some spoon.

We actually saw quite a few big groups seeming to be new birds coming in on front.

We finished w/ 20 but lost one for a total of 19 this morning. It is actually pretty slow in central texas. I think these were all resident ducks and we saw more opening weekend than we did this morning. I have yet to see a wigeon, gadwall, or GWT so I know the birds have not made it to my neck of the woods.

We need rain in the worst kind of way or I will be down to two spots if I am lucky.
