Does anyone use a litle propane heatet in your deer stand? Windows open? How do you think this would affect the deer comming in to a feeder @100 yds away?

I do and have had them come within 10 yards of the stand so I would say it doesn't effect them at all.

I have had them running on trips where my daughter was along and the deer do not seem to notice at all. Of course they did not notice her DVD player either.

I'm thankful for the things i have and all the things i don't

I have been using the Mr. Heater Portable Buddy Heater for a few years now. It has never affected my deer hunting, seeing as I have deer come within 5 yards of the stand regularly. The only problem is the ignition makes a clicking noise, so I bring a lighter to light it with. Sure beats freezing my arse off!

It has never bothered the deer when I use one. Like mentioned earlier, I have had them get within 10-15yards and not notice. I wouldn't worry about it. 2cents

I run one and the does come right up to about 10 yards away and eat the corn I throw on the ground. I brew coffee on my coleman stove and heat up my breakfast tacos in the blind. Had one buck last year that cold smell the coffee from the feeder 70 yards away. He was sniffing the air, turned and walked within 25-30 yards of my blind stopped and stared my in the eye then just grazed for a while and wondered off. But just drag your foot on the floor one little bit or clear your throat and they run.

I have a little stove in mine. The only time it bothers them is if they are down wind and I'm cooking breakfast... grin

Not a problem at all. It's about staying warm to have fun.

I'll take a roll of toilet paper and stuff it tight into a small steel coffee can. Pour rubbing alcohol into the TP until it's saturated and put the plastic lid back on. When I get to the blind, I pull off the plastic lid and light the alcohol. It makes a nice odorless flame for a couple of hours. To put the flame out, just quickly put the plastic lid back on.

No issues and use one all the time, when it's cold.

Wow this is actually the opposite of what I expected. Thanks, I will take one with m this weekend. It shouldn't matter that its a box blind on the ground?

In the panhandle at 7-12 degrees you better have a heater

I've kept a coffee pot on the heater in my stand since I was a kid. No issues. Good to know I'm not the only sissy with a heater in my blind. laugh

No sir, I have two stands on the ground... The important thing is wind direction. If the wind is wrong, I hunt a bifferent stand. and it has a heater as well... So do the ones on platforms.
