does anyone hunt in atascosa county or jourdanton and if so can post some pics of bucks shot ther because me and my dad might be getting a lease in jourdanton and we have never hunted south TX.

there can be some good deer around there, the habitat is good but it has gotten a lot of pressure.

Like he said there is a lot of pressure on the deer. A lot of small places where there are too many hunters and a lot of the larger ranches have been HF. See what the places look like around where you are going to lease. See how many blinds you can see from where you are at. Will give you an idea of how much pressure there is going to be on the hunting. You will always have plenty of hogs to hunt though.

well ther is a house beside the lease on one side another side is land with crops on it then the other side has a very large ranch, and the lease has not been hunted in seven years.

I am about 45 minutes south of there. We have very nice deer.

its close but i would still put it in central and hill.

hell i will give it to you , its close enough.. always thought of south texas country as duval , la salle, web, mc mullen, zapata , jim hogg, jim wells, kleburg,brooks, kenedy,starr,hildalgo, cameron to be south texas, atascosa never crosses my mind as south texas but i guess it could be. good luck on the hunting

Anything south and east of Bexar county is South Texas. At least that was what I had always heard.

geographically south texas is anything south of 90 from san antoinio to almost del rio and west of hwy 37.

parts of atascoca is in the post oak belt, but the majority of it is south tx. red dirt.


its very obvious uncle ted has never been to atascoca county, its extreemly apparent that it isn't in the hill country.
