Anyone else hunt this area in fannin county opening weekend?
My wife and I went out here and only got to spook one mature doe. Did anyone else have any luck or any advise for both Hogs and some bucks that might help?

I hunted this past weekend. I spooked up a couple does very late on Saturday as I was coming back to the truck. On Sunday, I heard two different quick moving somethings in the woods maybe 35-50 yards deep in the woods from where I was at about 30 min apart. Not sure if it was deer or hogs as I never got eyes on either. I spoke with on group which took a small doe on Saturday and a few other who seen a few hogs and deer but no shots.

Are tags for this public land hunt just available over the counter (sorry, moved here recently)? Any idea if they are available to non-residents?

You will need the Annual Public Hunting Permit. I think $48.00 then you will receive a Public Hunting Guide. Caddo has a few Antlerless days set aside. Some Public areas are by special drawn permit for antlerless which has already been drawn this year.
