We had pics of three really nice bucks that were on the hit list. Pulled the camera cards on Friday afternoon, and 2 of the 3 bucks have already broken off some tines! DANGGIT!! Anyone else seeing broken racks already?
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Almost all of our bucks were broken off last year. I'm hoping this year's heavy forage crop and plenty of water makes for some more resiliant antlers, but I doubt it.

I guess it doesnt mater to me, a good mature deer is a good mature deer, Im not going to pass him up because he lost a couple of tines. I think the breaks look neat to, just another form of charachter if you ask me. Im not selling deer so the score isnt that big of a deel, we measure just to know what it is.

The old buck that I've been watching this year showed up saturday afternoon totally broke off on one side. The other side had a broken G2 and G3. I was sick!!

One of the cull bucks we shot this weekend had a busted brow tine -- we thought it was actually a 7 pointer we have been seeing on our game cams.

We're seeing a lot of broken horns this year. We take it as a positive sign on our place. In years past we have been working to get the buck population up, so seeing a lot of broken horns this year tells us that we're heading in the right direction. It sucks in some ways, that we have a couple of nice bucks with horns broken so bad they no longer meet AR's (one really nice buck in particular). But as a whole, we are glad to see it happening.

We've seen two, one being my son's 10pt with a busted G3 and have pics of another 8pt that has since lost most of his main beam.

I was broken hearted when the deer I'm after came to the feeder with a broken G-2. Looks like I will have to find a different mature deer. I will pass on a mature trophy buck if he's broken up and try to find another one that's not broken.
