Currentlly huntin in Mertzon Tx area for 5 yrs, considering changing leases to archer county due to drive, havnt hunted this way for quite sometime. Wondering what to expect as far as quality and deer density, lease is around Holliday, any insight appreciated

really hit or miss on that area. lots of nocturnal bucks & hogs. if the lease is available and sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Mertzon has more deer for sure. really investigate it.

i hunted that area for 7 years with one 155 plus buck kiled and 5 130plus bucks killed,getum early they go bye bye in mid dec.good deer

It all depends on location. If you are against the Wagoneer Ranch it will be some awesome hunting and you should see some big bucks. Last year we took a 167 13pt,140 8pt,150 10pt,145 10 pt. Holliday is right down the road from where we hunted.

I am on a new lease there. The cameras show more big deer than any other lease I have ever hunted. That includes Throckmorton, Woodson, and Childress. Can't wait to see how the season goes.
Where are all your leases? I am just East of Holliday about 3 miles. Good luck.

Good deer in Southeast Archer County. Where aren't there any hogs in this region? Just shoot them in a [censored] and they will move on through.

I run a ranch that runs from the Dairy queen in Holliday all the way to lake kickapoo . I killed a 170 13 pointer 2 years ago 1 mile outta town and have seen some that would eat him while feeding cows .
They just bagged a 209 south of Archer . Ive seen a 182 12 pointer and a 174 14 pointer in the last few years . Friend of mine bagged a 163 12 pointer at blackflat 2 years ago another just killed a 152 9 pointer at the same place .
Ive cowboyed all over their and their is beasts at blackflat .
