Never been able to pattern the birds very well at my place or find a roost, but Sunday of opening weekend I was sitting at my front blind and for at least 30 minutes I was treated to the whole range of 'fly down' and locater calls. Heard it on tv/dvd before, but in person was cool. They moved away from me when they hit the ground, which was fine, cuz I want to save my tags for spring.... I know roughly where they are, but I don't plan on going over there and disturbing them, cuz I want them to stay for a while....

Can you give me some tips on how and where to look for these spots? Wanna take my son out to go get a turkey in december.

In my case I knew there were birds roosting nearby, just wasn't sure where. Just happened to hear them one AM when I hunted a blind 1st time for the year. Its not a subtle thing. if you are anywhere close, you can hear em..

We heard a few, but they sure didn't cooperate. This spot is not too far from where I got the pair of toms late last season, and where James saw some on the road on your trip out. Roost must be new there, or I would have heard it before.
