The boys (17, 16 and 15 year old)and I got drawn for the 751 Donley County: Taylor Lakes Unit - Playa Lakes WMA Youth/Adult hunt on Dec. 18-19. This will be about a 380 mile road trip for us.

I would like to ask if there is any camping around this area (we are thinking about bringing the pop up)?
We have never been to this facility, what should we expect (is there enough cover to hide, will we need to set up a blind, etc)?
Can any one suggest other hunts we can do in the evening?

Thanks In Advance,
Fishminer

It's gonna be a dry year this winter, I sure hope they have water because we're losing a lot of our water.

I have been out there for 4 hunts. I believe I can tell you about everything you need to know. They do not have any camping accomodations and you will probably be limited to hunting the Taylor lake. They pump water to fill up the one Taylor playa lake (pretty small) and then it overflows to the other Taylor lake. Unless you have had an abundance of rain you can expect to hunt the top Taylor playa lake. When it's good, it's good, when it's slow, it's slow. We have had about 50% good and 50% slow hunts. There are several mallards in the area so if they are there you should be able to get into some green. You will not need many decoys, when they approach the lake, they are coming in. You will probably not even need to bring a duck call. We stayed at the Clarendon Best Western and it is a really nice hotel considering the size of Clarendon. The Nothing Fancy restuarant is your best bet for a good meal. Please feel free to PM me for any additional informatin.

This is where you will be hunting

This was one of the good days..
