A monster 150+ 10 point. I just flat missed him. Broad side 150 yards. I've got no idea what went wrong. It seems to be a pattern with me. I can shoot a fly off a doe's butt at 200 yards but if they've got horns I can't hit'em. I think I need more practice on hogs and dogs. Oh well. For now I'll just have to admit that I may be the worst shot ever.

Hey, he's still alive for you.
I hit earlier this year and never recovered. Yours is infinitely better.

We've all done it, though some won't admit it.
Good thing is that you missed and might see him again. Alot better than a bad hit.

They always told me to concentrate on where you want the bullet to hit and don't look at the horns. Concentrate on a quick humane kill. Dust yourself off and get em next time, good luck !!

Once you decide that its a shooter never look at the horns again until ground checking him. Easier said than done. Also I try to think about the work of field dressing, and skining. Since I'm lasy this last helps alot. LOL Better luck next time

Hey, dont feel bad, I missed two doe this year with a bow at 20yrds. I've practiced till I had to quit because I was tearing my arrows up at 20yrds. Theres nothing like it when the heart get to pounding. Mine were clean misses when I should have been able to pick a hair the way I've been practicing. So dont feel bad it happens to many of us. The bow is new to me, I thought I had it mastered, it mastered me. How long have you been hunting deer of this class?

Tell me the story again about how you can shoot a fly off a does back at 200 yards or the other one about how you can shoot pretty little clover leaf patterns at 200 with your 25-06. Don't let a few facts get in the way of a good story.

Just some bad luck
I missed a 140 class deer 3 years ago at 125 yards. To this day I don't know why I missed. After I missed a different 140 class buck walked out at 175 yards and I dropped him.
You'll get your redemption soon

As someone here put it so well, "Practice until you cannot miss."
I also remeber the comment made in an article in one of those hunting magazines. "Practice until there is blood on the bench and your gun, then practice some more."
Being able to hit a paper target, from the bench, with all the time you require, knowing there will be nothing lost if you miss, is one thing. But making a shot in the field at a game animal that you know will otherwise escape, when you're cold, hungry, tired, restless, and perhaps even hung over, is a completely different matter.
"Some people will never like you because your spirit irritates their demons."

sounds like buck fever to me... back a long time ago I missed 6 times (at about 80 yds) at the biggest buck I'd ever seen.
I blamed everything I could think of but the gun was dead on when I went to check it.

I have my excuses, but they are just that, excuses. I'm still ashamed of myself for that one. But stuff happens for a reason, or so I like to believe.

You must have done about a dozen things right to get a good shot. Stand placement. Scouting. Feeder placement. Playing the wind. Watching your movements. Bullet selection. Research. Budgeting time and money. etc..........Well, at least thats what I told myself the last time I missed one.....Just having a nice one in the scope puts you miles ahead of the general population....Waiting on redemption pictures!!!

They tell me not to look at the horns before you shoot I got a little shaky Sat.night, when i shot my buck, but i banged my rifle getting it out the window, and then the sun glare was a b!+ch and barely found him in the crosshairs.
Bette rluck next weekend, hopefully he's still there

Don't leave your gun unattended with pranksters around. Pretty easy to for someone to turn the knobs on your scope.

They always told me to concentrate on where you want the bullet to hit and don't look at the horns. Concentrate on a quick humane kill. Dust yourself off and get em next time, good luck !! X2 had a hunter last season shoot a buck and then try to get a second follow up shot at him and he hit him on the right G3! I guess buck fever got him really excited and he aimed were he was looking! Can see it plain as day on the video.
