My wife just gave me my marching orders to cut the grass in the morning.

Put on your leafy camo and strap your rifle over your shoulder, and put your bino's on, that's always a nice touch. Then you fire up the mower just before daylight. Shut the mower off every 5 minutes and start glassing the street for game. The first time she sees you crawling across the neighbors yard trying to get a closer shot at that annoying fluffy dog down the street, you'll be relieved of mower duty forever. There is a possibility you will be arrested but that's a small price to pay to be permanently banned from mower duty. I haven't owned a mower in close to 30 years!

When you get time I'll tell ya how to get banned from doing laundry. I did spend a weekend in jail but that's just pennies to pay for that lifetime ban.

I recently found another way out of those duties but that one cost me half of all assets.

Yea I'm working too but the south side of the big ranch borders my north side. I'll bet I finish in time to go watch the sun go down over the cactus patch.

Well, I'm not going anywhere, but since there's better than 1,000 acres here on the ranch, I don't really need to. Not looking to take a buck this weekend, but might set up & get rid of a few pesky 'yotes tonight. And yeah, I will call the GW first and let him know.

I am going to stay out of the woods and let the "out of towners" have it. The rut will not kick off for some time and I will wait until it gets a little closer. I like to rattle the week before the rut really gets into full swing. I estimate 10 days to 2 weeks here in Menard County and at least Thanksgiving in Terrell County.
Good luck to all and be careful on the road and in the woods. There sure was a lot of hunting traffic in Menard the last couple of days.
Adios,
Gary

I just had surgery on my left elbow Thursday, so I'm not doing anything for the next 6 weeks...except rehab. I sure picked the wrong time of the year to get hurt trout

I'm on call at work this weekend. I tried to get some one at work to take my call duty but everyone hunts. The only replies I could get were, "sucks for you" and hysterical laughter.

Kids are sick and wifes birthday tomorrow. Normally she celebrates while hunting. Good weekend to stay home I guess all in all. Still catching up from last weekend anyways. That was my opener.

Was not able to make it out. It was the in laws 40th wedding anniversary. I did get to fish out in Matagorda and we did very well. Now it's off to work for a few days then out to the lease from the 10th-14th.

I wasn't too upset until I found out 2 12's and a big 10 were taken. The good news is there is still a bigger 12 out there and a big 10 I've been watching

Not able to go again due to job... Football coach and in the playoffs so I guess it is a double edge sword. Love both but one helps pay the hunting bills!
