Any advice on how to use them effectively?

I just wing it, start off light in case there is a buck close that you dont see. I work my way up to really smashing them around then trickle off after about 3-4 minutes. I've brought several in with that method but who knows if it is right. I also throw in a grunt or two in the end.

They have worked good for us and you can make them work using just one hand. Helps when you want to look through your binos when you roll them around to get a deer's attention.

I especially like em this time of year, before the heavy pre rut. I think they simulate sparring best. Once the deer really start fighting, i like my antlers but still use the bag all season long.

Another thing about them is that you can get many different sounds out of them that it is hard to simulate with real antlers without smashing your finger.

Tip: don't have the bag cinched up too tight. Let is be a little loose so the sticks roll around better. I used them very effectively last year.

The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

I agree with that also. Funny how realistic the rattle bags sound, especially the grinding sounds that you can make. Good product, or at least I have had good luck with it.

I use a bag most of the times but sometimes I like to hit the antlers together. The first thing I do is cut off the brow tines to make a set of rattling antlers.

I am not a fan of the rattle bags as you simply cannot generate enough volume with this product. I promise you that no deer is going to respond if they cannot hear the call. The bag that houses the pieces of plastic muffle the sound.
I want to cover a lot of real estate with my rattling horns and use the real thing. I have watched bucks respond from over half a mile away in open country.
Adios,
Gary

I like the real thing, but the bag is much easier to carry and use while bow hunting.
