270 and 130 gr. go together like peanut butter and jelly.

When I feel I need extra lead for the takedown, I shoot 130 grain bullets in my Remington .270. However, want I enjoy shooting most often are 100 grain bullets in my Browning .243.

Which ever one is most accurate in your rifle. Accuracy kills. Either weight will take deer or hogs reliably.

I have a browning 243 and weatherby 243 and 270 and a remington 30-06. I like 100 grain in the 243's and have never needed anything bigger. The weatherby will actually out shoot the browning. Sometimes I take the 270 with 130 grain . Rarely take the 30-06. I actully prefer the 243's because the guns are lighter and I hold it more steady. And the browning has a shorter barrell. All have leopould scopes and I really like them. In the 270, really dont need 150 grain, 130 is plenty.

which do you prefer and why for whitetail? Depends. In country where the vegetation is thick, and shots will be at say, 200 yds or less, the 150 works well and is more meat friendly. In open country, I prefer the 130gr which shoots slightly flatter, and has slightly less recoil. But if your particular rifle shows a preference for one weight over the other, which some do, go with the one your rifle likes...there ain't that much difference in termial ballistics.

I would have to say that I prefer the 130 over the 150 simply because of accuracy! My Remy 270 (before it was stolen) was sighted in with 130gr, ran the rest of the box through, then got some 150gr thinking it might like them better (ran the box through) and then went back to 130gr because my 270 was more accurate and consistent in it's accuracy! My rifle liked the 130gr and was hitting about 1 1/2" groups at 100yds!!!

Use whichever grain shoots best out of your rifle, whatever you hit with it will never know the difference.

Split the difference. Both of my .270's love the 140gr. boat tail from Hornady. One of the really loves the 140gr. Hornady SST also.
